your feral cat has other stops along the way where he is eating. IOW someone else is feeding him as well as you. Are you absolutely certain that kitty is feral? Perhaps he is just somewhat aloof towards you because he already has a family.

If you want him to be your pet then make sure that the food that you are serving is better than what he is getting elsewhere.

Once he comes around every night then you can start to bond with him and gain his trust. Be there when kitty is and make a Hansel and Gretel trail of irresistible food from his dish to you. Repeat until he is bonding then take it from there.

1st. A week is too little. be patient.
2nd. Don't just leave the food. Get her used to your presence. She must be there to see that you are the one putting the food there.
3rd. Get into the habit of doing this at around a specific time every day, when she comes there, so that she learns to come and wait for you at that time.
4th. After you have managed all this, at some point she will get closer to you, and she may even rub herself on you. Then you could touch her. It sounds unbelievable now, but there was a feral cat who never let me touch her, although I sometimes fed her from a distance, but she would be petted by the lady who fed her every morning. Gradually, she let me come closer too.

I agree with cpinatsi. It will take a couple of months to tame a feral cat so u need to be patient. He needs to see that u are the one feeding him so next time u see him give him a piece of raw meat or chicken or something really really yummy. Obviously i'm not saying this must be his diet cos its unhealthy but its fine to use it as a treat (or bribe as i like to call it). Cats go nuts for meat and chicken (i use biltong but biltong is a south african thing so not sure if u have it where u are). So to sum up what i'm saying is be VERY patient and bribe him. He'll soon come round.

Not a good idea to try to catch a feral cat for a pet. Never know what diseases it has. It might let you get close after a while, but still no telling on if it will flip out and attack when you try to pet it.
