We take them out to play and explore a couple of times a day. I feel like they want and maybe need to be out more than that but we work 8-5 jobs. It scares me to just turn the box over so they can get in and out of it! What if they get under the couch, recliner, behind the entertainment center, ect? I'm also afraid we'll accidentally step on one of them or even worse that my Doberman, Ziek, who wants to play with them so bad he can’t stand it, will break down the door (lol) to get to them and accidentally kill them! He loves our cat and the kittens! Well you get the picture. What should I do?

Thanks so much!

I woke up this morning at 8.00 am and my cat (female), who is usually miaowing at the conservatory door to be let in for her breakfast was curled up sleeping on the sofa in the conservatory. I shook her food box and she did not budge, even when I put the food in her bowl, she did not move. I picked her up and put her in front of the food and she would not eat it. She looked very down and no matter how much I fussed her I could not get a purr. The second time I picked up her she just growled at me. She can be a bit grumpy though sometimes. She walked into the lounge and went to her favourite chair and curled up looking very upset indeed. I put prawns in front of her and she actually got up, turned around on the chair and put her back to the food. It is now 2.45 pm the same day and she still will not eat food or purr. I have contacted the vets and told them that I will give her 24 hours and see if she comes around but until then, does anybody have any ideas what may be wrong?

I read a response to a question about kitten food that claimed this, then searched Google and found some pretty harrowing websites. However, I never know how much you can trust what is written on the internet.

Does anyone know more about this?

I have been feeding my kitten Iams since he was 9 weeks old (he's now almost 1yr old), and I think this would make me think twice.

A bit worried here, so forgive any/all incoherencies that may occur throughout this post.

Anyhow, as stated, I have a 5-month-old kitten (just turned 5 months on the 20th), who is usually super energetic, friendly, vocal, and a sweetheart. A basic, overall cute and typical kitten.

However, today (or yesterday, the 21st, by this time), he'd spent just about the entire day in hiding, to himself and in darkness (a.k.a. the shade). He also didn't really eat a lot, and I am not sure, but I do not think that he'd even gone to the bathroom the twice maximum that he usually does (unless my sister had cleaned his box while I was away, in which case that'd explain the empty box). Not to mention that he barely spoke, and the one time he had was a more like a "hum" versus a meow (because he hadn't really opened his mouth).

Now, onto my main concern. His suddenly rapid breathing. He is asleep right now, and so his breathing is vaguely less rapid, but still rapid and abnormal, nonetheless. Almost

Hi...I'm trying to find a "Don't breed or buy while animals die" graphic sign type thing to put on my website which is aimed at getting rescued street cats into homes, but can't find a downloadable graphic for it. I've already got spay/neuter and adopt a stray graphics on the site, but can't find one discouraging people buying from breeders.
Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks

I have a two year old cat. Yesterday he started limping around my room. This morning I noticed his first toe on his right paw was 4 times the size. It had split open and completly covered in a white pus. I can't afford to take him to the vet right now and I really don't want to lose my baby. Does anyone have any constructive critisizm that may help my cat feel better? He has changed since this happened. He won't eat but drinks twice as much. He has a slight fever that has gone down since this morning but he refuses to leave my bed other than drink and go to the litter box. Please help. I love my cat so much and don't want to lose him to anyone or anything.

I rescued her a few months ago from an abusive home. She and I have bonded really well, but she still very afraid of humans, noises, and changes. I just moved to a new place, and she hasn't been going to the bathroom. She has been eating normally and drinking as well, but her litter box is still clean. It has been 2 days now, and I know she hasn't gone anywhere else. Could stress be the problem to her not using the bathroom? What else can I do to make her go to the bathroom?

i have always had other animals and he has always been fine. he is 8 years old and i have a one year old kitten whom he loves and a 5 year old dog. used to have a different dog and an older cat too but they both died. anyway, he is friendliest cat ever - but started pooping all over my house about 5 months ago. he used to hide it but now seems to do it nonchalantly. he especially likes the bathtub and he pees there too now. UGH! We have two littler boxes and keep them clean. the other cat never does this. I also dont scold him for it - i just say bad cat and sometimes spritz him with water. boyfriend says he might be mad because im not home as much and when i am the door is closed to keep him out of the bed. i am at a total loss.... i even changed the type of litter and everything.

My cat is Rama Llama, I had a Frodo (almost 30 years ago) and I had one named *****-Kitty (okay she really earned that name and I think I loved her the most of all of my cats.)

But what is the strangest name you have heard?

We found her under a lawn mower, and have no idea how old she is, but she is definitly less than a month old. She has been eating hard food, and knows where everything is. Not even one accident out side the litter box. We got her two weeks ago, and just recently her eyes have been discharging a brownish, clear fluid. They occasionally mat up, and have changed from blue to dark green. We have been cleaning them out with warm wash cloths but it just seems to be getting worse. Should we take her to the vet now, or wait a while?

a gorgeous poem about pets:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

We aren't interested in paying an arm and a leg for a hypoallergenic cat either. Preferably, we'd like an Applehead Siamese (for their outgoing personalities), or we'd like to adopt a shelter cat. Somebody please tell me that there's a way around cat allergies. I am a real cat lover.

I have two female cats. Both are from the same litter. They are just about a year old. Recently one of them has been peeing on things randomly in my room. Also she has been hissing at the other cat. This is new. They usually always get along. Im not sure if she has a urinary tract infection or something. So i just figured i'd ask everyone if they knew what might be the cause of this. thanks in advance for your help.
