We found her under a lawn mower, and have no idea how old she is, but she is definitly less than a month old. She has been eating hard food, and knows where everything is. Not even one accident out side the litter box. We got her two weeks ago, and just recently her eyes have been discharging a brownish, clear fluid. They occasionally mat up, and have changed from blue to dark green. We have been cleaning them out with warm wash cloths but it just seems to be getting worse. Should we take her to the vet now, or wait a while?

Kittens eye color changes just like humans, so I wouldnt be too concerned about that, but I would watch the discharge. It may be allergies, it may be an upper respiratory infection. I really wouldnt wait too long to have her seen though. If she managed to damage her eye and you put off treating it your kitten could end up blind. Just a clear discharge can be normal, watch for yellow or green discharge, that is definately when you should have her seen. And just contact solution isnt the best, depending on if the have added anything to it. You want jst plain saline drops, so nothing damages or irritates those eyes more. Good luck with the little one!

Take her to the vet without seeing the cat I would say its a type of pink eye in the cats. There is a medication they can give you the medicine should cost between 8-10 dollars, but will last awhile. But without being able to see the kitten the best thing would be to take the kitten to the vet. It could have a more serious problem. Also when using wash cloths I have always used white so i can see what is on them better. But since it was found outside, a vet appointment would be good. If you can afford to i would do any of the tests that a vet suggests.

It's normal for a cat's (or dog's) eyes to remain shut for some time after birth; their eyes are still in the development stage. They will open for the animal when the time is right. In the meantime, just take some warm (not hot) water on a washcloth and gently remove the "sleep" from his/her eyes. My adult cat gets this daily; my vet says it's probably an allergy. If you can see the cat's "third" eyelid, then they have an eye problem - this eyelid sweeps sideways across the eye like "Men In Black." On a healthy cat, you will never see this - it blinks too quickly.

yeah i would get her to the vet, coz shes only a kitten u can't take chances like this, when they are young like this small things can be very dangerous, coz her immune system will not be fully developed yet, get her checked out, the vets will make her better , they usually pretty good at making animals better, if caught in time, it may well be nothing serious but better safe than sorry

Please take her to the vet. You sound like a nice, caring person since you took the kitten in. She needs to see a vet, anyway, to get a check up and get her shots started. She will also need to be spayed soon so that she cannot become pregnant. Good luck with your kitten.

Take her to the vet now! Sounds like an upper respiratory infection, not to mess around with.

It sure wouldn't hurt to get her to a vet. She needs a thorough exam anyway, and you can make appointments for starting her vaccinations -- and for getting her spayed eventually. She probably needs to be wormed, too.
I hope she'll be OK. Good luck.
