I have a two year old cat. Yesterday he started limping around my room. This morning I noticed his first toe on his right paw was 4 times the size. It had split open and completly covered in a white pus. I can't afford to take him to the vet right now and I really don't want to lose my baby. Does anyone have any constructive critisizm that may help my cat feel better? He has changed since this happened. He won't eat but drinks twice as much. He has a slight fever that has gone down since this morning but he refuses to leave my bed other than drink and go to the litter box. Please help. I love my cat so much and don't want to lose him to anyone or anything.

I wouldn't put any antibiotic ointment on it. He will just lick it off and that would cause a whole other set of problems. He really should see a vet. It sounds like he has an abbsess and a fever. You can give cats baby aspirin. Not ibuprofen or tylenol. I know for a kitten it is 1/2 of a baby aspirin. I don't know about a full grown cat. Can you just call the vets office and get advice? You can even call a vet you have never been to and they will tell you what to do. I hope everything turns out all right.

There are low cost clinics in every city. Contact your local SPCA to find one.
He has some kind of injury and must see a vet immediately.
He could end up losing his foot or leg if left untreated(or worse).
In the meantime, soak the foot in warm water (with a little very mild soap) and clean it with hydrogen peroxide. Apply antibacterial cream to the open/split parts.
His not eating is a very bad sign that he is sick. Cat's don't go off their food unless they are really hurting or sick.

Get some triple antibiotic and treat the toes he probably wont like it but it must be done. put a dab on several time a day and don't worry about covering or wrapping it as that wont stay. He should keep it pretty clean on his own.
If were sick or hurt you propably wouldnt feel good and would probably have a change in attitude too.

call the pound in your area, tell them you found a cat and want to get help for it.. let them know you have no money see what they say... put some peroxide on the foot.. let it bubble out, give the cat a Tylenol to bring the fever down.. do you have any antiseptic? put that on and bandage the foot or leg.. you really need to to take it to a vet.. they can set up payments

try the ointment and try to wrap it...second call around and look for a low income place...my advise is to talk to your vet they do understand! Do not give your cat adult pills of any kind second do not put peroxide on it

Call the vet. Tell them you don't have money right now. They will give you good advice. If they don't treat him they should know where you can take him. Hurry. Do this now.

If it is that swollen I don't think topical antibiotics will help much. I would get him to the vet before he becomes septic or you will loose him.

if you really love him then you need to take him to the vet. would you let a family member suffer like this without taking him/her to the hospital? sometimes they can arrange a payment plan. this is what has to be done.

That is called a abscess and it will kill him... FAST.
THIS IS BEYOND YOUR ABILITY TO TREAT!!!!!!!
RUN don't walk to your local SPCA ...they will help@ low cost.

GO ! NOW !!!!!

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ..do NOT...REPEAT ..NOT
give it TYLENOL !!!!! THAT WILL MOST DEFINITELY KILL HIM!!!!
IT"S FOR HUMANS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
..............later.........
ok..obviously i'm not making myself clear.
ASPRIN IS TOXIC TO FELINES >
TOPICAL ANTI-BIOTICS ARE TOXIC TO FELINES , AS WELL AS USELESS IN THIS SITUATION>
if you are not willing to make the trip.....kiss your cat good-bye....by morning he WILL become septic ( which is ungodly painfull -- personal experience !)

his life is down to days ...possibly hours.....I AM BEGGING YOU....to h*ll with best answer points ....PLEASE !!!
if you care anything for this poor cat ...DRIVE>>>NOW !!!
