By potty train, I mean on a toilet, like a human. I bought a litter kwitter, which is supposed to help, but they still sometimes go poop in the bathtub. They pee in the toilet, but for some reason #2 is a challenge.

I assume you mean teaching the cat to use a toilet, rather than a litterbox. The kitten's mother will teach him or her how to use a litterbox. As for the toilet, you start by putting the litterbox next to the toilet. Then a few days later you raise the litterbox a few inches with a stack of newspapers or magazines. Keep raising it every few days until it is the same height as the toilet seat. Then either get a Kitty Whiz plastic kitty toilet-training thingy (it goes inside the toilet under the seat inside the toilet bowl, or you can use a metal mixing bowl that's the right size. You put litter inside that and leave the lid up so the cat can use the litter that is inside the toilet. People will have to take the bowl or Kitty Whiz out in order to use the toilet themselves, then put it back in. Then after a few days you reduce the amount of litter you put in. Every few days you reduce it some more - or in the case of the Kitty Whiz thingy, eventually you cut out a hole in the middle of the thing. The cat will get used to having less and less litter to scratch at, and then get used to having no litter, and the water of the toilet, and then it will be all toilet trained. I tried it, didn't work out with my cats. But some people are successful with it.

There is no trick, A cat goes naturally to a clean soft spot, like a litter box provides.
If it doesn't that it is sick and take it to the Vet, and let him know the problem.
I have over 30 years had 2 cats that I had to put down because they could not be trained. But about 10 cats that were Born trained so to speak. Just provide the clean box of litter right were it can be found!

All you have to do is put him in the litter box and hold his paw and scrape at the litter with it after he eats. After he does his business, let him get out himself so he can explore and know where it is. He will get the idea in just one or two times of this. If you are still worried, you can confine him to a small room with flooring that's easy to clean (kitchen or bathroom) with just water, food, a bed, and the litter box when you are not at home. That's how their mother teaches them in the wild and they actually like to have something that they can bury their waste in. I have an eight week old kitten and he got it in just one try. I don't know how old your cat/kitten is, but they say you can start potty training them at 4 weeks of age and if they are younger than that (like if you found or rescued yours and he/she was without a mother) you may still have to stimulate him/her. This is when you gently rub their anus or tummy with a rag or cotton swab. In the wild, their mother does this after feeding until about 4 weeks of age. Good luck and I hope this helps you!

As far as I know you don't really need to train your cat. They are natraully inclined to use the litter cause its like sand. If your having a problem with your cat going to the bathroom in potted plants then just put some pine cones around the plant on the dirt and that should stop that.

some cat have litter preferences. If you are having trouble with him using the litter box even after showing him the box and scratching his paw in it try a new litter. Clumping litter is usually very fine like sand where as cheaper not clumping kind in more like little rocks. I have had cats that strickly like the clumping sand and other who could care less.

Most cats take readily to a litter box. Just remember to keep it clean and find a litter the cat likes and stick with it. Also, remember that your cat might like a little privacy, so you might put it out of high traffic.

No trick, just show them the littler box. Most cats WANT to use the box. Make sure you have the litter box in an easily accessible place and keep it CLEAN. That's all it should take.

First things first all you have to do is show them the first time where the litter box is by putting them in it and then they will find and go to it everytime, its their natural instinct.
