We have a male kitten who is about 7 months old now. I would like to get a kitten but I am unsure of the interaction between the two and if I should get another male or a female.

I don't think it matters if it's male or female. The key is a slow introduction. Keep them separated for at least a day ot two, but let them know of each others presence. Let them smell each others toys and litter. I say one day because it's hard to go longer than that. They may fight at first (mine did for sure), but in the end they will become friends since they are both so young. Good luck!

If your question is whether to get a male or a female cat, i don't suggest getting another male cat just because males are territorial. As for the interaction between the new kitten and the 7 month old cat, it will take time, but they will eventually get used to one another. At first they may hiss at each other and not want anything to do with the other one, but it will pass and soon they could be very good friends!

This seems wierd, but I have a male tabby cat who is a few years old. Everytime we brought a new cat home he freaked out. Then one day we brought home 2 tabby kittens and he treated them like they were his own. So I would suggest getting the same breed of cat and probably a male so you won't have to worry about them mating unless the male is fixed then it really doesn't matter. Most cats get along with each other after they get used to each other anyway, so it just may take some time. It's fun having 2 though, I love to watch them play and fight with each other, they can be a riot.

My male cat was about a year and a half old when we brought a female kitten about 8 weeks old to meet him. They didn't get along at first, but now they are best friends and even give each other baths. It only took a couple of weeks for them to be used to each other. No matter what you choose, keep a close eye on them so they don't hurt each other. Who knows, they may get along great!

It should be a female, and both should be fixed before bringing the second kitten home. Take care.

What what what what what?! do no longer listenn to those human beings. you do no longer could desire to offer the two of them away cuz have confidence me...in case you do you will sense undesirable. purely flow away them the two on my own and enable them to roam around the living house jointly all new cats do this my cats are doing this now too. My new cat and the previous one hate eachother...properly they did....yet they're the two commencing up to get alongside better now. It takes time yet supply them seperate litterboxes and seperate meals dishes. wish all is going properly.

You should probably keep them separate until the new cat gets used to his new digs. When you do introduce the two of them, do it around the time they eat.

male cats have a bad reputation of killing kittens, so be very careful

Cats tend to make friends when they are left to do it on their own. Your kitty would probably love a playmate.
