he is 17yrs old and has been having problems with his mouth (growth or abcess of tooth) I know that they have to be starved 24hrs prior to this but can i give him water as he is desperate for a drink?? I'm really worried about the general anaesthetic because of his age and also he is quite thin, but he had one last year and was fine.

we fed it to him for about 2-3 days and just herd on the news that alot of animals are getting sick. he's an indoor out door cat and he was starting to get a little on the skinny side so we bought a brand of food called special kitty to fatten him up. well now he can hardly walk he can walk but it's kind of a limping walk. so we called a vet and he's going in tomorrow but we want to get him in today so we're still calling around...but has this happend to any of you? is there any thing i can do to make him feel better?? please help me!

When I fed my cat this morning I noticed that one of his eyes was crusted shut and it looked like tears leaking from it. I got a soft baby face cloth and wet it with warm water so I could clean his eye but as soon as the cloth got close to his face he freaked out and ran under my bed. What is wrong with his eye and what should I do about it?

My cat's right hind leg is swollen and he won't put any weight on it. There is no obvious deformity and he doesn't seem to be in any pain. It done this once before and after a few hours, the swelling went down and he was ok. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I will be taking him to the vet in the AM, was just curious if anyone else had this experience before.

I adopted him from a shelter about a year ago and he used to eat 9-Lives in the can (except seafood flavors). I have tried many different brands and he'll sniff them and then walk away. He'll go back later and nibble the dry. He meows like he's hungry but, he keeps turning his nose up to the moist. Any suggestions would be great.

I walked by my cat yesterday while he was laying on the couch.. and he started to scream at me. He was holding his leg awkwardly and screaming his head off. I massaged his leg.. and he seemed fine. I can touch it anywhere, anytime.. and he never so much as flinches. He was fine.. so i thought maybe it was jut a spasm or something?
He was walking down the hall about 5 minutes later, and he fell over screaming.. holding his legg weird. Same thing.. i massaged it, and picked him back up on his feet and he seemed fine. It's strange. Ii'm so worried!!!!! I have no idea what is going on. This cat is my world. :(

Why is it that if my cat is walking towards me and i call him by name, he just sits down and stares at me, whereas if i don't call him he will come right up to me? He does this to my husband too and we can't work out why

My 8 year old abyssinian cat doesn't seem to be eating or drinking. We usually mix her dry food with some other samples and she usually has a hearty appetite and if she doesn't like something she'll eat around it. I've gone back to feeding her straight science diet ( for senior cats) and she still isn't touching it. WHen I usually jiggle the food container she comes running, she did this morning but would not eat. She doesn't seem to be drinking much either. Her stool seems the same, there just isn't much of it since she's not really eating or drinking. Her voice also sounds a bit different when she meows. She is usually quite jovial and excited to see people but has pretty much been keeping to herself ..she was hiding in the living room this morning. Someone on another board said she was having seperation anxiety since I wasn't really home this past week..but I don't think that would have these symptoms right? I'm taking her to the vet this afternoon so i hope i get some answer thanks

We have homes for at least 4 kittens and can keep 3 of them ourselves. We will immediately spay afterwards. Everyone seems to have neutered cats.

Thanks!

Hi, I was wondering where to put the litter box?
Right now we have an empty bedroom for the kittens, but we have a Baby on the way, and he/she gets the room then.
I don't want the Litter box in the Baby's room or in our Bedroom.
The Living Room & Kitchen would sound gross, and we have such a tiny Bathroom their isn't any room.
Was just wondering where you have yours, any Maybe some advise where I should make room for it?
(In a closet with a little mouse door at the buttom?) :-) (-;
Thank you so much for now.

I can never sit down and just eat a meal by myself. I'm constantly shooing them away. Spraying with water won't work, theyre bengals and love water. I dont want to be constantly yelling at my kittens. I also have 4 other roommates and they dont really appreciate kittens up in their face while they are eating. And I dont want them to get upset with the cats and possibly be mean to them. They get all up in the trash too. Any suggestions?
