I adopted him from a shelter about a year ago and he used to eat 9-Lives in the can (except seafood flavors). I have tried many different brands and he'll sniff them and then walk away. He'll go back later and nibble the dry. He meows like he's hungry but, he keeps turning his nose up to the moist. Any suggestions would be great.

It's perfectly fine to feed cats only dry food. If he likes dry kibble, then go for it. My cat eats only NutroMax dry food and is thriving. In fact, he doesn't even like wet food at all.

By the way, 9-Lives is a very low quality pet food. In general grocery store pet food is very poor quality.

If he is eating nothing at all, then it's time for a trip to the vet.

Dry food is generally better for cats anyway so as long as he is eating a reasonable amount of something then i wouldnt worry too much (if you think he isnt eating enough, take him to the vets). If you decide you still want to change to wet food, do it gradually, mixx his dry food with some of the new wet food, start off with 75% dry and 25% wet, then 50/50 then 25/75 then 100%.

With the regards to the meowing, he might be trying it on in order to get treats (if you give him treats). Mine does that, meows at me and then when he realises he's not getting a treat will quite happily eat his normal food. On the other hand he might just be meowing for a different reason (like he wants attention or to play or something).

It looks like you are the proud owner of a high profile finicky cat. Again you can spend alot to find what Kittie will eat. Different brands, recipes, etc. I would think it would be worth it. Just be sure he has no other ailments to affect his wants. You may even try some upper end small dog foods. You never know what makes Kittie happy!

A bunch of moist and wet food is on the recall list so I'd double check if I were you . In general it is best to ween cats off of moist food, it's not the greatest for them. I hope your cat gets better, mine is going thru some similiar issues.

9 Lives isn't on Menu Food's list of recalled cat food, so you can eliminate that.

Is he drinking OK? Drinking too much? Peeing a lot? Those are bad signs and you should take him to the vet.

I would just take him to the vet, if I was in your shoes, just to make sure he's OK.

tastes change - just like ours -

moist may remind him of the shelter -

keep the dry out for him - he WILL eat when he's hungry

may also try a different dry - maybe a kitten dry?

keep his water fresh

best of luck!

It has a tumor in its brain stem Magminite making it not lay droppings so when he has all the food in his digestive system he doesn't wan to eat.

You should probably see a vet soon!!!!

Sorry about your cat!

I'd take him to the vet. It could be a symptom of something serious.
