My 8 year old abyssinian cat doesn't seem to be eating or drinking. We usually mix her dry food with some other samples and she usually has a hearty appetite and if she doesn't like something she'll eat around it. I've gone back to feeding her straight science diet ( for senior cats) and she still isn't touching it. WHen I usually jiggle the food container she comes running, she did this morning but would not eat. She doesn't seem to be drinking much either. Her stool seems the same, there just isn't much of it since she's not really eating or drinking. Her voice also sounds a bit different when she meows. She is usually quite jovial and excited to see people but has pretty much been keeping to herself ..she was hiding in the living room this morning. Someone on another board said she was having seperation anxiety since I wasn't really home this past week..but I don't think that would have these symptoms right? I'm taking her to the vet this afternoon so i hope i get some answer thanks

I've checked all the sample packets and none so far are included on the recall. We only use dry food on the cats, they don't like wet and it seems to be only wet food in cans and the "moist" packets that are being recalled.

You are doing the right thing with a trip to the vet, Not eating combined with behavior changes warrant professional advice. My cat is mildly annoyed when I've been gone and may shun me for awhile but he never turns down a meal, so I don't think separation anxiety is a sufficient explantion.

Since you said you feed her multiple kinds of food you might check to make sure one of those brands isnt included in the pet food recall. If so, that would be helpful for the vet to know when you go in. Hope she feels better!

Time to take your abysinian to the vet... something is wrong when a cat suddenly refuses to eat and behaves differently from normal (hiding).

There was a food recall on some dog and cat foods.
