Does anyone have a way to stop kitty litter from going all over the place? I've tried the mats but they don't work. Any other suggestions?

Get a covered litter box. Cat litter will always come out when the kitties step out of the box, but believe me, the mess will be much less than with an uncovered box.

Put the tray into a large clear rubbermaid storage container (you can make a covered tray from it if you mark a hole with an exacto then tape around it so it it doesn't split and cut out the section with a saw), it's a lot harder for it to get scratched out of these tubs. Use carpet remnants under it, this will help catch any as she jumps out and she won't mind walking on it.

If you don't want to go to that trouble, you can just use a big cardboard box and throw it away when it's worn or starts to smell.

Cheap car dirt mats from $2 stores are great for trapping litter too.

Well one way to help keep the kitty litter not go all over the place is get a cat litter box with a lid, you can get them at Wal-Mart and at places like PetsMart. They cost a little bit more than the ordinary kind but there's less urine and cat litter on the floor.

My cats use a litter box with a cover and I line it with a bag. I also have one of those mats in front of the doorway into the box. Now it's not 100% and I still have to sweep but it's not all over the place. It stays pretty contained. I don't think there's anything that would 100% stop it. Good luck.

There are mats that you can buy that are like grass and you put it in front of the litter box and it is supposed to catch the litter on the bottom of the cats' paws. Don't know how well it works as I have never tried it. Another try would be a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet which is rougher that regular carpet. That might work also.

If you figure this out, please tell me!!!!

I skipped the mats they sell for this problem and went and got welcome mats with long "grass" on it. It helps, but she does a good job of jumping from the box, over the mat, to the floor. Just gotta sweep it up a lot.

It helps to have the litter box in a place that can get dirty and you don't care. Mine's in the basement next to the furnace.

I always used the covered box with a mat. Under both, I also had a large piece of carpet or rug. It pretty much contained the mess.

To toilet train a cat or dog you need to dig its nose into the litter each time it dose it anywhere else than in its litter tray which would be filled with sand. Every time it dose litter elsewhere you dig its nose into it, lift it up and put it at the litter tray.
