A close friend's cat got outside a few weeks back and was taken to the shelter. The cat was scanned for a micro-chip and one turned up on her. My friend had registered all of his information with Avid before he moved to his current home. His ex-girlfriend went in and changed all the information with Avid to her address, after he had done this.

He has recent invoices for the cat from the local vet, proof that he's had the cat for the last 12-years, and that she's not been in the picture for six-to-eight-years.

She now has the cat. What can he do? Can he sue Avid and the ex-girlfriend? What are the best steps to get his cat back as soon as possible? Help!!!

I got it on freecycle. It looks great but there is a dog and cat smell on it and a urine odor. Will I have to get rid of it? I don't have pets.

They don't really love you - they just pretend to be nice (like purring and rubbing against your leg) to get what they want. As soon as my cat has been fed she stops all this fake affection. I think cats are completely selfish- they just make sure they get fed and find the most warm and comfortable spot. They are also sneaky - waiting till dinners over to go and find all the titbits. My cat jumps on the dinner table in spite of repeated reprimands. Cats don't care- they despise us really.I care about my cat but am aware of her cupboard love. Agree?

I need advice on the "tastiest" cat food available. My cat is on steriods for a mouth tumor and I need to administer his medication through his food. I think he can taste it because hes not finishing it off (I've been giving him Whiskas pouches). He would eat it in tuna but this is ongoing medication and I know its not healthy for them to eat tuna all the time. Does anyone know of catfood that he wouldn't leave any on his plate? Any help would be much appreciated x

I have a really nice black cat about 2 years old and it is very loving and cute. After a hard day outside it does cheer me up being all soft, warm and furry. The only problem is that very occasionally it will try to impregnate me if i'm sat on a sofa, i tried ignoring it at first but now it just infuriates me. Am i right to be angry or should i be flattered, what can i do to stop it happening again? Thanks.

My cat has recently trained me to walk around the house dragging some yarn for her to chase. Soon after breakfast she comes and starts asking me. Often she's very vocal about it, but sometimes she'll just sit on her haunches and look at me expectantly until I get the yarn out. It's quite effective.

She's also trained me to give her a treat shortly after supper when she runs into the kitchen and starts talking.

It reminds me of the episode of "Star Trek - The Next Generation" where Data complains to Geordi that he hasn't been able to train his cat, Spot, not to jump up on the console when he's working. Then Spot meows, and Data tells the computer to prepare cat food. Spot eats and meows again, and Data gets out a feather on a stick and plays for a bit. Geordi then remarks, "I don't know about Spot's training, but it looks as if your training is progressing nicely." The writer of that episode knew cats, all right.

So what has your cat trained you to do?

My male Persian, Bogart LOVES dirty underwear. I've caught him on many occasions rubbing his face all over them. I've even seen him go as far as to leap for them while seeing me throw them in the hamper.

Any of you have a cat that does something funny/weird?

About 2 months ago my sister brought home an abandoned kitten. We took her to the vet that day and had all the tests run before we brought her home. But since then, my 14 year old cat started getting really red and irritated skin on her chin. Every day that goes by it gets worse. And the more I try to clean it, the worse it seems to get. I took her to the vet to get her teeth cleaned last week and asked them about her chin. They said it was feline acne and gave me some antibiotics to give her. I've barely seen a change in it. Could my little cat have given her something or is the little cat annoying my older one enough to be causing stress, thus causing the acne? The older cat has never had skin problems before and I feed them out of glass bowls that I clean very often. It seems to me like I need to put something topical on it, to help heal the scabs. Please help? Also, since the antibiotics, my older cat has had bad diarria. Is that normal? Thanks!

She disappears for periods of time and re-emerges looking satisfied. She no longer wants the food I give her. I think she is seeing someone else - even BEING FED ELSEWHERE! Is there such a thing as a pet spy agency - I want her followed to find out where she is going!

I keep hearing everyone telling me to wait but I can't, I want to get another one of the same breed to help me heal from the loss of her. I am SO not trying to replace her, you can't she was unique, just my empty heart and home. Please no rude answers I'm not feeling too good!!

Is purring a deliberate act on their part, or just a reflex thing when you pet them? And how do they make the purring noise?

I have heard from many people that cats are seriously allergic to ivy and other house plants. I have had cats all my life and have never seen any indication of this. When I grew up my Mom always had ivy growing from pots all over the house and we currently have ivy that grows in several rooms. The cats love to play with the leaves and the long runners that the ivy puts out and will frequently chew on the vines that run along the walls. Is there any truth to the myth or have all my cats just been immune?

I took my cat to the vet yesterday and his gumline on the top is red. The vet said it was gingivitis. He said it would be $150-$200 to clean it up. I can't afford that but want to help my kitty. What can I do for him at home to get rid of the gingivitis? Do they have kitty listerine or something? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have three cats and each one has their own box, and we change it everyday so it isn't a real problem he doesn't cover it up. It used to kill me that he goes through the motions of covering it up but doesn't actually touch the litter. Then again, he does drink with his paw, so maybe he isn't stupid. Is this normal for a cat?

Thanks.
