My cat has recently trained me to walk around the house dragging some yarn for her to chase. Soon after breakfast she comes and starts asking me. Often she's very vocal about it, but sometimes she'll just sit on her haunches and look at me expectantly until I get the yarn out. It's quite effective.

She's also trained me to give her a treat shortly after supper when she runs into the kitchen and starts talking.

It reminds me of the episode of "Star Trek - The Next Generation" where Data complains to Geordi that he hasn't been able to train his cat, Spot, not to jump up on the console when he's working. Then Spot meows, and Data tells the computer to prepare cat food. Spot eats and meows again, and Data gets out a feather on a stick and plays for a bit. Geordi then remarks, "I don't know about Spot's training, but it looks as if your training is progressing nicely." The writer of that episode knew cats, all right.

So what has your cat trained you to do?

To open the doors for her, endlessly. In, out, in, out. She races down the steps to greet me when I get home with a big cat smile on her face so she has trained me to get all emotionally touched by her open, brazen, unashamed love for me. Wow, aren't cats GREAT???

When I was a kid our cat would go down to the vacant lot at the end of the block and play all day. Dad would come put-ting around the corner in his old VW, coming home from work. The cat would walk out to the street, he'd open the door, the cat would hop inside, and ride home with him. Yep, cats are GREAT!!!

My cat likes to walk past my head, just as I'm falling asleep, and meow for me to lift the covers. She thinks no door in the house should EVER be shut. The only two times she'll come to "here, kitty, kitty" is pouch food or a newly opened dryer. Lately I've been trained to run a load of laundry right before bed. She gets a warm dryer to sleep in and I don't have her meowing at my head around midnight.

I am trained to be my cat's butler. I open and close the door for them at all times day or night. I am trained to put water in the bowl at the sound of my cat Leo's digging and food in the dish at the sound of his licking empty dish. I am trained to pet Jasper at all hours of the night when he jumps onto the bed. I am a trained to make Sugar and Jasper nice cozy beds on the couch to sleep. I have been trained to lift covers for Leo when he meows to go under the covers to cuddle. What can I say? I am a trained human.

My cats feel their bowls shold be overflowing at all times. They'll work together and wake me up in the wee hours of the morning if there are only 5 or so kibble left. (I generally leave several heaping bowls out now so I can sleep in until 8am). When my male cat wants the litter box cleaned he sits on top of it and lets out this very strange meow. I clean his box thouroughly. He is happy. I am happy and fully trained I'd say. Smart animals.

I have two. My lovely cat, Samwise, trained me to "fetch" his toys. He will start out by bringing me his toy to throw for him, so he can chase it. He will bring it back once or twice, then "act" (seriously) like he's lost it, come to me and beg me to find it for him. I learned this was all an act when I discovered him looking exactly where he left it.
He's also trained me to drop whatever I am doing when he wants attention.
Another thing is, he has trained me to only buy certain foods and treats for him, as he refuses all others.
I, on the other hand, have used his natural abilities, as a "ham", to do tricks for his treats.
The other cat, Chloe, has also trained me to drop what I am doing when she wants attention. She has trained me to play with her in a very specific way, ways that she likes. She trained me to keep her litter box very clean (if I don't, she will go potty on my bed).
They have both trained me to lift the bedcovers at night so they can crawl under them, feed them, keep their litter box clean, and respect their intelligence.
They are my babies.
I am 54 years old and have had cats since the age of 2.

No. Not like dogs but you can train them. They will not react like a dog, you have to make them think that they want to do something like sit or jump. I have trained my cats to stand on their hind legs and walk.

My cats have trained me to do the kitten shuffle...if not I would be a stumbling fool. LOL
I rescue cats and find them homes so I usually have a houseful. And if I go to the kitten room or kitchen they all come running and then follow my feet closely so they don't miss out.
So now I don't know how to walk normally. Force of habit to do the kitten shuffle. :)

Mine has me trained to the minute. As soon as my alarm goes off she meeeeoows until I prepare her wet canned food in her food dish. If I walk away her meows get longer. Its pretty cute-and shes only 61/2 weeks old!

Everytime I walk down the hall she meow's like crazy, training me to not walk down the hall without going into her room and putting more food in her bowl. Fat slut

My cat has trained me to let her lay on me whenever she wants. I can be sitting on the couch crocheting and she will hop up, look at me expectantly and make me move everything to allow her to plop down on my lap. At night, I lie on back and she will lay on my knees. If I lie on my side, she lies on my hip. She has trained me to give her small bits of chicken when we have that for dinner.
