My cat just had babies or rather baby, only one made it.She had a very ,very rough and long labor last night and she has not shown any interest in her new baby yet.It is feeding ,but she is not licking it or doing anything besides sleeping. Will she show more attention once she has rested and recovered?

she probably will.she;s probably beat and after she gets some rest she will.thats strange ;iv;e never heard of cats only having more than 1 kitten.are you sure she;doesn;t have more up in there,if she;s still like that tommorow.better get her to the vet;as she might be getting toxic.if she has more that one in here must come out or she'll die..call a vet today and ask about only one kitten'and that only 1came out please it mite be life or death to mama and baby...good-luck..let us know tomorrow what happened ok thanks

She should start showing more interest once she has rested. But if she does not I would call a vet and ask there advice on what to do about it. Becuase animals like to have their privacy when they have just had a litter. So be patient and in the next 24 hours the cat does not step up then call a vet.

If the mother is not showing attention to the baby and is only sleeping you might consider there is something wrong with the mother. Is this her first litter? as a new mother she might be rejecting. If the baby is getting nourishment then no worry. But i would keep any eye on Mother. You might consider taking her to vet and tending to baby yourself. Have had to do it myself.

Just let her rest for now, as long as the kitten is drinking, maybe try and give mum a raw egg to boost her energy.

she should, but as long as she is letting her feed the kitten will get her mother's attention
