Are you sure he's not being fed elsewhere? If you are sure, then this might sound odd, but have a look at his eyes. When cats get tummy ache they get what's called a "third eye lid". Basically, the inner corner of the eye comes in towards the iris, making the eye look quite small. It's a good indicator of how he's feeling.

I got this off the link below...

"The “third eyelid” is called the nictitating membrane. It protects the eye, helps make tears, and perhaps helps control light. In the healthy cat, this membrane usually cannot be seen. This membrane sometimes moves up from its normal position at the inside corner of the eye to partly obscure the eye. When this happens on one side only, it’s usually due to some local irritation of the eye, for example, a foreign body in the eye, or a scratch on one cornea. Sometimes it occurs in both eyes, and cat owners will often refer to this as a “film over the eyes.”

There is no simple answer as to why this happens. In my experience, when a cat has both third eyelids prolapsed, it tells me that the cat is ill. Often, I’ll examine a cat that has a fever, or weight loss, or maybe some loss of appetite, etc. Frequently, the cat will have elevated third eyelids. When the cat recovers from the illness, the third eyelids usually return to their normal position.

Occasionally, the third eyelids will prolapse in an apparently healthy cat. It often disappears as spontaneously has it has appeared, usually in a few days. If the prolapse is severe enough to interfere with the cat’s vision, there are eye drops that will make the third eyelids retract, providing temporary symptomatic relief. This should only be considered after a veterinarian has thoroughly examined the cat and has determined that there is no illness present."

Also, have a look at the second link - it gives some more details about the behaviour of older cats.

If he's still not eating, I would definitely recommend taking him to the vet. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck with him!! xxxx

Q. "My cat is 14 years old and has not eaten for 3 days, what is wrong?"

A. Anorexia is a serious symptom, particularly in older animals. It can be caused by a number of things: DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, PANCREATITIS, an INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION, or even a SORE TOOTH. Some of these conditions are very treatable, particularly if you see your veterinarian right away.

Your veterinarian can perform blood and urine tests and a physical exam to determine what illness is keeping your cat from eating. He or she can also check whether your cat is dehydrated and whether she needs to be given fluids or nutrients through an IV (intravenous) or NG (nasogastric, passing through the nose into the stomach) tube. Again, this is a very serious problem. Be sure to see your veterinarian AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Blessings, Love & Peace 2 U & Your Kitty!

You sould really go to a vet. Has you cat been drinking water? Another thing to watch for. Your vet might give you a special food with high water content if your cat isn't drinking as well as identify the problem. If you are concerned about having enough money, tell your vet this. It would be a shame if it was something simple and not that costly and your cat didn't get helped. You could contact your local Humane Society and ask them to recommend the most affordable clinics in your area.

My cat lived for 17 years and I must say, for the last 4-5 years, it wasn't eating much. What you can try is to give it easier food to eat. I remember mine had trouble with the dry one so we had to give it soft one that come in cans.

If it's an outdoor cat, maybe something happened outside and it's hurted or something like that. Try to check if it's because it doesn't want to eat or if it's because it can't eat.

Just so you know, your cat is getting old and it's totally normal that there are changes happening. Try not to worry too much but check on it more often. And if you really aren't sure, there is always the vet option.

If your cat is still drinking water, he should be OK. Perhaps he's eaten something that's upset his tummy. Take him to the vets if he is not drinking water as he will be dehydrated, which is very dangerous. The vet will check him over if he's not eating and hopefully sort him out! Good luck!

There are many things that can cause a cat to stop eating and all of them are serious, so please get kitty to a vet!

After three days without eating, there is very possibly a second extremely serious problem: hepatic lipidosis. This is a fatal liver condition that can develop after a few days without eating, and will certainly develop after much more than a few days. It requires immediate treatment along with whatever is causing kitty to stop eating.

Off to the vet!!!

I think a trip to the vet is probably in order. There must be something wrong that he hasn't eaten for this long.

Don't know but if it is 3 days since it last ate anything you should consult a vet particularly if it is drinking more than normal
Probably no need to worry but best to get it checked

Hope all is well
