Call a vet in your area and explain your situation. Ask them if they would accept payments over a period of months. They usually will help. Also, try contacting your spca in your county. Meanwhile, keep the cat indoors only, and clean out the cut. Make sure no foreign bodies are embedded. You may have to cut the fur surrounding if it is in the way. I would apply neosporin, or another animal bacteria killer ointment, and cover it with a bandage of some sort. Good luck, and I wish your cat well.

Well, it depends how deep the cut is, if it is very deep it will need stitching otherwise it won't heal properly and will be easily infected.
In the meantime, you need to wash the wound out as thoroughly as you can with salt water, not too much salt. Place a dressing over the wound and bandage the leg, then put sticky plaster around it to keep the bandage in place.
The bandage must NOT be too tight or circulation will be affected.
Keep the cat in and do not let the bandage get wet. You'll need to change the dressing each day so you an check on the wound.
It really seems to me though, that a vet should take a look at it. It will certainly need antibiotics otherwise you could end up with a very poorly cat and an even bigger vet bill.
Hope that helps.

You need to call your vet and tell them that you have an emergency. Tell them what happened, that your kitty needs to be checked out, but you would need to make monthly payments. Alot of vets do that. Mine does. They know things happen and that people can't always afford things up front. Your pet shouldn't have to suffer and possibly risk getting an infection just because you don't have the money right now. If your vet won't do it, call another. In the meantime, keep the wound clean, put some triple antibiotic ointment on it, and wrap it with gauze. Good luck and I hope your kitty feels better soon! One more thing: keep him inside!!!

I wouldnt reccomend doing it yourself, you dont know how deep the cut is or if there is anything in it, the best thing for the cat is to take it to the vet its only fair, and think about getting pet insurance for the sake of a few £ a week its definately worth it

It needs to go to the vet. The cut may be infected, which can in turn cause a nasty abscess. Then it'll cost you even more money!!!!
If you're in the UK, give the RSPCA or Cat's Protection League a call. I've put a link below that will give you details of your local RSPCA.
Please take him/her for some advice before it gets really bad!
Good luck xxxxx

there is pretty much nothing you can do, but you will have to take it to the vet, your cat could get a serious infection and die if this is not properly treated.
It is actually considered abuse if you do not get your pet the proper treatment, knowing that they are ill or injured, you could face fines, just an FYI.
in response to an above answer.. do NOT under ANY circumstance put peroxide on your pets wound, this will be extremely painful to your cat which could cause her to go into shock or.. when an animal is in pain and you are holding them, the animal will almost always turn on you, she could attack you, this is very dangerous, DO NOT USE PEROXIDE ON HER WOUND, TAKE HER TO THE VET!

Check for charitable pet shelters in your area. There are many pet shelters that treat sick animals for people on low incomes. All they require is a donation. Some expect a minimum donation however which may be around £10!

You really need to see a vet. Get on the phone, phone the RSPCA, the PDSA, a local vet as a cut may not be expensive. Good luck.
