Hi, i wanted to know how to begin taking care of a 2 year old cat that was given to my mom from her office friend. the cat is a female, and currently not very active to us, probably because of not seeing us as her owner. she goes to my room directly under my bed. i try petting her. like for example: she likes getting rubbed on her head. Now what should i or we do , for her to get adjusted to the new environment she's in. how long could it last? will she continually hide under my bed? any advices and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. it's my first time to have a cat as a pet. i have many fish tanks. but not a cat. so pls help me.

My wife did this the other night. There was waste smeared all over it, and I'm convinced it's completely unsanitary and may ruin the dishwasher.

I found a kitten and am trying to save it. I do not have the money for a vet bill. The kitten has no appetite and is sneezing and wheezing. Snores when sleeping.

Or prevent the litter that is thrown everywhere?

NOTE: I have an automatic litterbox so he's not rolling in a dirty box.

First, a little background. We picked up a male cat from a shelter who had urinating issues, inappropriate places and a urine smell on the cat. We have 2 other cats. The male gets along with the new cat. The small female showed fear agression, but the larger new cat didn't seem terribly stressed by it as he can easily counter it. A blacklight showed some urine marks around the house, but it was more of a "mopping" as opposed to spraying. The new cat was placed on antibiotics and this made a big difference. He still has a tapeworm which is being addressed this week.

The problem now is that the new cat does not cover his litter box droppings. The poop (extra stinky due to tapeworm) and urine is rarely buried in litter making for a very smelly litterbox that is otherwise clean. We have 3 litter boxes, all large, covered and cleaned regularly.

My wife is at wits end with the smell, but the cat has a great personality and I dont want to send him back. Please help!

Last night, at about 1 in the morning, my dog was outside barking, so i got up to tell her to shut up. The cat got into my room, i saw her go in there. Usually she's fine when she sleeps in your room. This time about 1 minute after being in there she jumped on my bed and pissed on my leg. Well i dont think she exactly aimed for my leg, but she might have??

WHY?? She has a poo box in which to pee in, so why would she wait to that one moment she comes into my room?

I think i should get even with her, show her how it feels to be peed on (not really but it would make me feel better, but then i'd have to bathe her)

So today i woke up and I see into my hallway my male cat jimmy is doing what appears to be humping a large stuffed monkey... I was upset so i shoed him off the toy and threw it into the spare bedroom about an hour later the cat dragged the monkey out (i dont understand how because its just barely smaller than him) anyways and put it on the living room floor and starting walking on it, then he started doing what I believe was humping its paw (the stuffed animals) HE IS FIXED!!! why is he doing this???

I intend to replace are carpet soon, due to the cat scratching it to bits. The cat is not a kitten, so how do i stop him from scratching the new carpet, would a cat scratch stand work or is he to old to learn to scratch that instead of the carpet.

Help required.

for those of you that kindly helped me before with my kitten and his toilet issues, well its still going on, ive changed his diet, hes had tablets and banana medicine and he still has diaorrehea, he was diagnosed with complyabacta which is what these treatments were for, i tuk him to vets today to get his jabs started again as he couldnt have his second lot due to his diaorrhea, but they have said as he still has the same prob he cant have them incase the bacteria is still in his system so now i have to take him to see a specilaist tomorrow and take another poo sample, what i would like to know is, no offence to the vetineray profession, but are they just gunna tell me the same as they would if i just sent the sample off and are just trying to get more cash outta me of are they actually gunna do some investigating...?

Above my cats tail is very sensitive, when I pet her she gets angry and tries to bite. She's 11 and she's always had some sensitivity there, but now it seems as though she dislikes it more then she used to. Is it because she's just crankier in her old age or is there another reason?

My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure on Friday. He stayed in the hospital for three days where they gave him medication and an IV to treat his bladder infection. We took him home and he's been eating, drinking and his personality is normal. He still continues to urinate on the carpet which is what made us realize he was sick. How do I know if he is dying? One kideny is not working and the other is large and overworking to compensate. The vet says that can turn to cancer in cats. I am afraid he is dying and I am afraid he has to e put down but I am also afraid to act too quickly, but I can't watch him every minute and he's urinating all over the place. What do I do? Please help.
