whats wrong with my cat?

i was petting my cat this morning (5 and a half months old)

i found two red things on her.. thought they were eggs of some kind but when i tried to pick them off, they scurried off?!?! they are bugs of some kind.. are they red mites?

how do i get rid of them... are there drops i can use or is it something for the vet to deal with?

They could be fleas that are engorged with blood. Take her to the vet to check though.

It does sound like a tick. Ticks jump onto your Cat when it strolls through tall grass or brush. Once onboard, the tick bites into the Cat's flesh, burying its head under the skin. Then they start to feed. As they ingest the Cat's blood, the tick begins to swell. Fully engorged, a tick can look like a pea of bean in size. If you don't find it, the tick falls to the ground, lives on the stored blood for several days, and then waits for another creature to walk on by so that history can repeat itself.
Never be tempted to pull the tick off as you can leave its head under the skin causing all sorts of problems. I believe you can buy a special tool from your vet or pet shop to remover them,
they carry disease so use rubber gloves when you do this and make sure your cat is well as some cats can be alergic to ticks which will make them ill.

Hi there!

My husband and I have a cat, and we've never seen any red bugs on her....so I'm not sure what they are. My suggestion is to take your kitty to the vet and have her checked out. They will be able to give you a better idea of what the bugs are and how to treat them. Hope this helps!! :)

Have you seen these creatures anywhere else in your home? How big are they? I've only seen thin dark fleas, it depends on what part of the world you live in. Do they seem to be leaving like red marks on the kitty? Check her bedding and see if there any there, check where she lays. If you could capture on put in a baggie and take it and kitty to the vet to see what it could be. I always say when in doubt about kitty a vet we will see. Good Luck

Well, it might be a good idea to wait a while and see if your cat is acting strangely. But if she looks okay, there might be nothing to worry about. But if she does have strange symptoms (urinary problems, constant vomiting) then I would go ahead and look on the internet for what they might be, or call the vet or an animal expert and see what's going on. And if that does happen I would also clean a lot of the things in your house and search it because they could be coming from something you cat would rub against, or maybe something outside.

if they move they are not ticks as these embed into the skin sounds like fleas if you cant get to your vet you can bye flea spot on in your pet store for a couple of pounds but you will need to treat your whole house as fleas can lie dormant in fabric for months if you get spot on from a vet i think this treats the house also but not sure about the stuff you buy in the shops maybe it does too read the packet hope this helps

Ally I'd take your kitten to a vet, it's definately not ticks they don't scurry they latch on. She is still a very young cat and could get sick very quick. Hope everything turns out okay

I agree with other posters - take her to the vet.

They won't be ticks if they moved away - they could be engorged fleas. If they are bigger than fleas, they could be bed bugs. Whatever they are, if they are parasites they are endangering you and your family's health.

The vet will be able to tell you what they are and how to get rid.

this sounds like something you need a vet to look at asap cause it could be highly contagous to you i recamend takeing the little guy to the vet fast so the can start treatment and get that thing away

They are ticks filled with blood take the cat to the vet or get those tick pills You dont want your cant to get heart worm do you?
