So today i woke up and I see into my hallway my male cat jimmy is doing what appears to be humping a large stuffed monkey... I was upset so i shoed him off the toy and threw it into the spare bedroom about an hour later the cat dragged the monkey out (i dont understand how because its just barely smaller than him) anyways and put it on the living room floor and starting walking on it, then he started doing what I believe was humping its paw (the stuffed animals) HE IS FIXED!!! why is he doing this???

Hi there...cats who mount actually are establishing dominance behaviour--top cat/alpha cat. If he feels the stuffed monkey is threatening to him by mounting (biting and mounting) he is exerting his dominance. Dominance behaviours have been commonly seen among spayed/neutered cats and with inanimate objects.

There could be a couple of reasons for this. One, sometimes there is testosterone left over after they get fixed. Two, it is a dominance/territorial thing.
I had a male cat that was fixed. When my female cat was in heat, she was in the middle of the living room howling. The male cat came over and started doing his thing (so he thought). We got her fixed the next day and he never did it again. Maybe he just wanted to shut her up and give her what she wanted. Either way, it was hysterically funny.

Ok this is what my vet told me when I had my cat fixed. Sometimes you can take the nature out of the cat but you can't always take nature out of the cat.
In other words the cat may not have the equipment to do the job, but by mother nature thinks he does.
The vet said this is normal and the cat may realize it at some point. It depends on how much testosterone and stuff is in the cat. Or it may never stop.
Its normal

Supposedly it is a dominance thing...maybe your cat is at the bottom of the chain and felt the need to have power over something. Get a video, it could make you money :-)

I have a female and I don't have this problem but I have seen many dogs do this (that are fixed) I think it still feels good.
