I have heard that if the whiskers are cut, that the kitty cat loses its equilibrium. Is that so?

Growing up in the country we never declawed our cats. They were indoor/outdoor cats and obviously you don't declaw an outdoor cat. Now I live in a big city and have an indoor cat. We are planning on getting a dog within the year, and haven't yet declawed the cat. I'm not sure that I want to, mainly so if the puppy gives the cat a hard time, then he has some defense. Just wanted advice on declawing a cat who is indoors. Also he doesn't claw at the furniture. He uses his scratching post quite faithfully. It is scratched to death and has holes in it..lol...

We have flying ants in our apartment but we also have a dog and a cat. How do you get rid of the ants without hurting our pets?

Before I had my son I was not allergic, and now I am. I was also away from home for a long time. My mom got a new cat but it was not working out so she gave him to me and now I feel like a leaky faucet, and I haven't even been touching the poor cute little thing. I don't want to have to give him up. Is there something I can do, or will my allergies eventually adapt? Thanks!

We have a cat with bad breath, but -- well, our cat's breath smells like cat food, really.

She eats good quality food and some dental/breath treats, but -- still not great. I haven't had cats for very long, so figuring out how bad is bad for a cat, if that follows, isn't easy. Would there be a sort of decaying odour if there were dental problems involved?

She is not the sort of docile thing who'll easily submit to a tooth brushing, too...

My cat uses the litter box, yet she never covers her mess up with the litter. She has enough clean litter in her box to cover her mess but I can't understand why she won't do it. I didn't potty train her because I got her when she was already full grown, so I don't know if there was a glich in her training or what? Please help me:)

What kind of food does Hello Kitty eat? Does she eat cat food such as Meow Mix or does she eat human food such as pizza? Just a silly question that I thought was worth asking. Thanks*

Yes, he is neutered. He is very happy in our home - he has a brother that he romps and plays with, and plenty of people who love him. He has lots of windows to look out. But if we're not paying close enough attention, he bolts out the door! He stays close...he doesn't usually go more than a house or two away. But he's a dark gray cat, and I'm afraid he'll get hit when he bolts out at night!

My 12 year old cat has feline kideny failure, but he is hopefully getting better. After 3 days in the hospital we brought him home, but my younger cat has been acting very strange around him. He's usually quiet and calm but now around the older cat he is growling, hissing, and making chuffing sounds. Can he sense there is something wrong?

My cat got at my mother's new houseplant, some cyclamen. I've told her again and again to keep the plants out of the reach of the cat if she HAS to have the stupid things, but she wouldn't listen to me. As a result, my cat got curious, chewed up a good part of it and vomited repeatedly all over our carpet. I only found out last night what kind of plant it was and that it was harmful to kitties.

After she vomited up what was still in her tummy from breakfast and lunch, she started vomiting some foamy peachy-colored glob with little red bits in it (I debated whether those bits were blood or flower petals). I shut her in the laundry for the night, checking on her occasionally. She was lying in her bed, pupils dilated and purred when I petted her. This morning when I had checked on her she had only vomited twice more. Her eyes were no longer dilated and she submitted to being picked up, and purred. I plan on taking her to the vet tomorrow, but is the danger over? Will she be okay? =/

She's probably about 8 or 10. She is healthy, but is starting to get skinny (although her apitite has grown rather then lessened). I am concerned that her thyroid might be the issue. Is there any special diet to support this?

I am not a cat person so I don't know if there are any risks of infection/disease from a cat bite.(My daughter was bit by a cat the other day.)

My cat is 12 years old. Every now and then she will get a random bald spot usually on top of her head or on her neck...but she has also gotten them on her back. I took her to the vet thinking it was ringworm, and they did cultures and didn't find anything wrong. They don't seem to bother her at all and the hair just gradually grows back. Just wondering if anybody else's cat ever had this problem. Thanks!

Hi! I have two kitties already at home, a 6 mo old neutered male, and a 5.5 mo spayed female. I am thinking about adopting another 6 mo old spayed female. However, is three cats too much? People in my life are teasing me and calling me a "cat lady", but would three cats really be all that bad? Also, would there be any problems with having a third cat? My first two only took about 2 days to get along, and they use the same litterbox. I would get one for the new kitty, but should I also get a 3rd. I know that you are supposed to have one litterbox per cat, but if my first two share one, couldn't I just have two? What do you guys think?

Why does my kitten put her paws into her water bowl while she is drinking it? She puts one in at a time... The water is clean and I can see nothing on her paws which makes me suspect she has hurt herself...
