Hi there...when cats rub up against you or objects they are scenting pheromones to mark territory to show ownership.
Cats have scent glands on the top of their heads, sides of their mouth, the paw pads of their feed and around their anus.

Try distracting him with a catnip-filled "mouse" or other interesting cat toy. It sounds as if he is feeling devilish and frisky. Our 5 year old boy cat does the same thing; he just directs it at the other cats rather than at us! Do his eyes get big and black? Does he give a kind of whining meow? He just wants to play - cats' play involves practicing attacking their prey...and right now, you're it!

That is a natural tendency for the cat to show affection to the person whom it recognizes as its protector, feeder & to a certain extent, friend. It is simply leaving its scent on you so that it can pick up your presence even before you enter the room. Remember, cats have a keen sense of smell, sight & hearing, so always appreciate your cat's love for you just as much as the care that you have shown to the cat.

it just means that he or she LUVS you. technically when a cat rubs itself aganst something, it is claiming it for herself. so when a cat rubs against your legs, it wants you with her all the time!! In other word this is totally a good thing!

He's just marking his territory, hon. My cats do it all the time. There are secretions that come out from glands that are on different parts of their body, including the face, around the tail, and even on the pads of their paws. He just wants everyone to know you belong to him!

Marking territory. They have scent glands on their cheeks and top of their head, and she is claiming you as 'hers'. Be flattered, your cat loves you. She may also want a treat!

To mark his territory, to be social (lions rub faces with each other), and because his ears itch.
