My 2yr old indoor tabby died suddenly in front of me. He was very well taken care of, visited the vet often, and died for no apparent reason. Has this happened to anyone else??? What could have caused it? The vet said it could have been something in the brain or heart, but I can't afford an autopsy. I just want to know what it could have been??? : (

I recently put my cat on a diet (vet's advice) and he spends a lot of time begging me for food now. He yells and paws at me, even when I'm sleeping. It's only been a week since the diet started so maybe this will subside but I wanted to know if there's a "good" way of responding - does it make it worse to pick him up, pet him or is it better to ignore it? Does anything work?

My female adult cat has always been extremely picky and will only eat Iams hairball formula. She would literally starve herself before touching a different kind of food. But now that we have a new kitten, she's all over her (the kittens) food! I even put the kittens food in a separate room but when she goes in to eat, my adult cat shoves her out of the way and dives in. I've told her "NO", I've popped her on the backside, loaded her bowl w/fresh food, and nothing works. Im finding that I have to supervise every feeding and its really an issue. Any advice??

I have 3 cats and it seems no matter how often I clean the litter box, it STINKS! Does anyone know a good dry food to feed my cats that may reduce the smell of their bathroom visits?

Hi everyone,
My cat has had ear mites since about a year ago when we brought him home from the shelter. We took him to the vet and she diagnosed the ear mite problem and put him on Revolution. But that medication hasn't worked. She told us to put it in his ear once a month. I thought I read in other places that it was once every two or three weeks or something. I sort of do not trust vets anymore, because of an incident my fiance had.

So we bought some ear mite medication at the pet store called Bio-Groom. We decided to use up the bottle first before we bite the bullet and take him to another vet. Haven't finished the bottle yet, and there appears to be more black stuff in his ears.

Does anyone know what this means? Or any other advice for ear mites? We clean out his ears (if there's gunk in them) before treating them, with mineral oil and cotton swabs.

Thanks!
Sandy

She dashes around the house, makes a weird squealing noise, pounces and attacks invisble objects, gets a wild look in her eyes and just generally goes wild. A few minutes later she's calm again. The cat is about a year old. Will she grow out of this?

My gorgeous Burmese x girl has always favoured my Fiancee to me but since I became pregnant she always likes to sit with me and has become very affectionate towards me (she was always loving but quite aloof). She was spayed well before I got pregnant but do you think she can sense that I am having a baby? I would like to think she does but wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing (additional info - she was spayed as soon as she was old enough so has never had a litter, thought perhaps this might be relevant).
