she is pushing then she is contracting and trying to give birth! She is trying to have her kittens. Is she hiding while doing this? or walking around, meowing and panting? if its yellowish this isnt very good sign, should be clear with some blood a little yellow or green is ok but not alot. Thick yellow stringy discharge is a sign of infection. Cats dont always tell you they are in pain, some are very quiet but believe me she isnt feeling well. Also you used the word discomfort... just FYI discomfort is pain. Scoop up your cat and take her to the vet. She needs medical attention now. Just out of curiosity if she is an indoor cat how did she get pregnant? Does she have a male available? By the way Puss isnt normal, the liquid coming out of her at the beginning of birth should be clear to slightly yellow or greenish. Dark yellow thick and smelly is not normal. If shes gooping out enough to have to clean up thats not a good sign. Yes she could be totally fine but why wait to find out? It doesnt seem normal.

Call the vet right now. The cat and/or kittens could be in trouble. Yellow discharge could be a sign of infection. Cats do not show discomfort like other animals, so if you see any sign of discomfort, she's probably feeling plenty. Maybe it's all ok, but call the vet to be sure. I once had a cat have her kittens--in my lap! (Long story.) But there was almost no mess whatsoever, and not a lot of obvious discomfort for the cat. All did well afterwards. Once more, CALL THE VET.

Hello,
Your cat is very close to having her babies. Do you have a large box for her? She will need a large box with an old blanket in it to have her kittens. Please place this box where she can be alone because when she goes into labor she will be very nervous. Very important to lay this box on its side. Is this her first time having babies? Sometimes the first time is very hard on her, also her age can be a factor. Cats are like humans when there going into labor, eating will slack off, be a little moody, but she should be fine after having the babies. Another important thing is after having her babies make sure to feed her by her box and she will require more food than she normally eats as she is nursing her babies. Keep a close eye on her when she having her babies. I hope this will help you.

Your cat will be fine. Don't bother her and pick her up and let her do her own thing. About-to-be indoor mother cats like to make a bed for their kittens somewhere in the house, usually inside a closet or in a room that is quiet. Leave lots of towels and/or kitty beds around your house and let her pick one out. Don't handle the kittens after they are born either. Wait until they start to walk and their eyes open before you touch them.

When in doubt.. when it comes to the birth of kittens it is best to at least Call your vet , Not the same situation but my brothers Dog had an unusual discharge while in labor and I insisted that we take her to the Vet and it turned out with the confirmation of x-rays that she had a dead puppy blocking the birth canal.
I don't want to alarm you but like I said if you have any doubts call a VET. Good luck, .
