She dashes around the house, makes a weird squealing noise, pounces and attacks invisble objects, gets a wild look in her eyes and just generally goes wild. A few minutes later she's calm again. The cat is about a year old. Will she grow out of this?

Well my cats are 6 and 4 years old and they do this all the time. They just suddenly have a burst of energy (probably from sleeping all day) that they need to use up. It's normal and actually pretty amusing. I know cats that are 11 or 12 years old that will still do this, just not as often.

Probably not and probably yes. It just depends on the cat and the personality. My cats used to do this all the time!!

It's just the way cats are. The more protein there is in a food though, the more energy. It's like giving a little kid sugar - so check the protein content of the food you're feeding and do some comparison shopping if this drives you crazy.

Personally I'd just stay out of the way and have a good laugh!

Crazy cat time. Oh yes. I know this well. My ex-bf and I lived in an apartment with my little Lili and his cat Askum, Askum weighed 16 lbs, and that was when we took him to the vet cuz he was sick. The neighbors asked what all the thumping and banging was every night at about 1:30... it sounded like horses, those two chasing each other around... Have fun with it, it's a sign of a happy cat.

you will be able to might desire to section off the rooms to permit each and every to be on my own. some pussycat rescues take a mattress room door off and set up a show screen door interior the physique, to offer a 'look yet do no longer touch' section. have you ever tried Bach's Rescue scientific care or Feliway to calm her down? This works properly with some cats. yet you will have an unresolveable undertaking right here, if she's completely maniacle approximately it, there is no longer lots desire he gets along with her. some cats can carry grudges for years, i've got got here upon. and those have been sane cats.

This is just her way of releasing some energy. Mine does that too, only she also likes to get a good running start, run up the door frame, and hang on the side like a monkey. Cats are instinctively hunters, which is why they attack toys like they do. For indoor cats, they build up these skills as best they can, but never get to use them. Giving her good play time helps alot. My cat and I (she's 2) play chase alot. She'll run up behind me and tag my ankle to let me know she wants to play. So I'll chase behind her and once I get her cornered (she lets me think I'm winning) I turn around and run and she chases behind me. Once she tags my ankle (doesn't take long) it's my turn again and we'll keep at it till I'm out of breath. Good exercise for her as well as me! Lol!

Two of my cats do the exact same thing. I hope they never out grow having their afternoon crazies. They go crazy, run around, make weird noises, and generally act like something is chasing or trying to get them.

My cat does this at 6am every day I always make jokes that he sneaks off to hit the crack pipe then tweaks out for 10 minutes. It's fun to chase him around or throw things in the general direction of him, he freaks out more and runs away lol!

No. There's nothing to grow out of actually. This is like exercise for cats. And all cats do that. They stop it only when they're older or if they're sick. Be happy that your cat does that because it means she's fine.
You didn't say it, but I guess you have indoor cat. Cats that go out, don't usually do that, because they can run around outside.

It's normal. Most cats will do this at least once in a while. They are just natural impulses. People have them too, but usually wait til the weekend to express it.

It's normal for cats...mine will actually do it several times a day and always without fail at least once a night.

Granted, I also believe my cat is certiably insane.
