I have a 20 Year old cat which is very very skinny, im talking about like 5lbs, or under. She has fleas, but she is old. Can advantage for cats and kittens under 9lbs be used?

check with your vet first. kittens at 8 weeks are usually 2+ pounds and it is suppose to be safe on them.

Get her checked out at the vet as this is way too skinny for an adult cat. The fleas may be making her run down in health so you must de-flea her.
Best wishes.

I wouldn't use Advantage on a cat that old. Buy a flea collar for it or use some flea powder. I lost my cat who was 20-years old last year and I still miss him a lot. I have other cats but Joey was my baby boy.

when you go to the vet to get Advantage, your vet will ask you how much your cat weighs. That how they determine how much (in strengh) to give your cat. It works wonders! I used it on both of mine. None of the store-bought ones work. Another thing you might want to talk to your vet about is how much your cat weighs. For being that old, he sure doesn't weigh alot. It's unhealthy. I had a cat for 19 years and when it was time for me to put her down, she only weighed 4 pounds. Just a suggestion.

I don't forsee a problem. You might want to consult your vet. The kitten formula may be a kitten formula because of the underdeveloped immune systems and what not, not necessarily weight.
