Would you give a former street cat a home?
I've recently set up a website aimed at getting some kitties that live on the street near my place into homes. It has live streaming video of the kitties needing homes at night, and my kitties in the day. For awhile I was getting a good response, but now it's quietened down, and I need to figure out how to get it happening again as I've already taken 3 months off work for the project and really need to get some of these kitties into forever homes! Ideas?? It's for a good cause...I"m paying for the desexing, vaccinations, aids & FelV testing etc.... the site is http://www.kittiesinthehood.com...
I have already adopted 8 myself, and really need help with the other 12!

okay what does is mean when your cat gets a really wild scary look in its eyes and ... I don't know how to describe it ... like when Hannibal Lecter gritted his teeth and tremblingly sucked in air through his teeth.
What in the world was that about?

This topic has come up before but there didn't seem to be any replies with solid evidence that cats do indeed choke or bleed to death on chicken (poultry) bones. I'm looking for first-hand accounts only! Please no replies with advice you have merely heard from others (for example, please no "don't feed your cat chicken bones - they'll choke/bleed to death on the splinters", etc... unless you have first hand evidence that they do indeed choke/bleed to death). By the way, if you have witnessed such an awful event, was the cat rescued and how? Thanks for your replies!!

In my neighborhood we've been having an ongoing problem with cruelty to animals. Intentional cruelty. Recently a neighbor noticed that her cat's tail had a funny "kink" to it. She took it to the vet and he discovered that fish line was imbedded in the tail (which was broken) and had formed a scar ring. Apparently some form of intentional mistreatment (likely swinging or throwing) was done. On Halloween people set a cat on fire (gasoline) and let it run down the street...it was found eventually under a deck but didn't make it. It died an agonizing death. These are just a few of many incidents. Why is this happening???? I can't for the life of me understand why people would go out of their way to harm an animal?

This story starts out sad and may make you mad but keep reading because it ends happily.

My husband saw a kitten thrown out of a car going about 80 mph. He got out of his car and tried to rescue the kitten. It was crouching in a snow bank- the temperature was about zero. The kitten ran under his car and crawled up into the underbelly. She refused to budge. My husband finally felt he had no choice but to drive home. Once there, the kitten ran into his garage where after a few days she was caught in a have- a -heart trap and brought to my house - where she is welcome and will receive veterinary care. It's only been a couple days. Except for some damage to the pads of her paws she is thriving.

What can I name her that will highlight her strong will to survive? She is so tiny but a real fighter for life.

I have a cat who will leave his tail floating in my bath water, like he doesn't even know it's in there. He is always real excited when I take a bath and comes and sits on the edge of the tub. and he has started sticking his paws in the water now. I try to coax him in, but he doesn't go for that yet.
just wondering...
I have never heard of a cat that was okay with water???
He's also always putting his cat food in his water bowl. maybe he has a thing for water.

Our cat has out of the blue started getting sores all over. She has them on her head, back of the neck, under her chin, and down her spin. She makes it worse by scratching and chewing at it. Do you have any idea where this came from or what it is? Thanks in advance!

My female cat is pregnant, and it might be incest.

We got her and her brother at the same time, and when she went into heat, we separated them (at the time we could not afford to get either of them fixed)

I mean a couple times we think he may have got her but we arn't certian. She has also gotten out once or twice, but we have caught her and got her back in. She was out for a long time one day.

Even if her pregnancy is incest, is that going to severly affect the kittens?

Please only informative answers.

And any links to an informational website woudl be greatly appriciated.

Thank you.

I can gate a room off, but that seems like a big pain. I am trying to think of something like a table, etc. that the dog can't get up on but the cat can't.....but NOT the kitchen cabinet. Has anyone put their cat box on the dryer?

She's around 2 years old, her name is Shady. Her previous owners declawed her, gave her a terrible spay job (according to the vet), and abandoned her until my parents found her. After nursing her back to health and a trip to the vet, she was fine physically, though most likely she's been abused/neglected. I live in a small apartment with 3 rooms. Normally, she's fine. She always has fresh food and water, and her litter is far away and always clean. I'm in college, so I'm not always here though.

She's done this one before for a couple weeks and then just stoppped. It's long cries for no reason. She'll do it for 10 minutes straight, up to 20 times a day. Her meows aren't normal, they are long cries and VERY loud. I'm getting very frustrated, and I've tried ignoring it, yelling her name, chasing her playfully, etc.

I have 4 other cats, so I do have experience. I'm taking her to a vet soon, but is it possible she's going in heat despite being spayed? Please help, thanks.

Okay to my last question. Okay, my little kitty, tonight is it's first night here. and well umm. How do I tell if it needs to go potty? He's staying in the cat carrier so he can get used to being in it, cause we won't be home at 5 am, to 2 pm cause we are at work. we come home at 11 for lunch for an hour. but. well. yea I just need to know the signs there are for when it has to go potty cause I can't let him roam around because he'll get lost haha, and he likes to go into the little crooks and cranny's that could hurt him.

That was my last question. some of you thought that I was saying that I lock my cat away... well I never once said that I lock her a way. I am just saying that While me and my husband are gone . I am going to put her in the bathroom with the litter box, thanks to a suggestion by someone. I just wanted to clear that up. oh and I am a very good pet owner. I have two cats and a dog! So don't tell me to get rid of my cat and to giver her to a good home cause she has one

There are two things:
1~My 6 month old kitten sucks on her fur. I have no problem with it, but I'm wondering: Will she stop?
ALSO:
2~Before she drinks water, she splashes it EVERYWHERE with her paws and then flicks it in your face(EVEN WITH TOILET WATER!!!!) It gets all over my wood floor and I'm also wondering if this will stop.

THANKS!!!
