I would suggest that you dont give them wet food...the reason why you shouldn't give them wet food is because they are just eatting fatty food and they are not getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals...i would suggest that you go to your pet store and get dryed kitten food for them and fill up there cat dish all the way to the top...well hope this helps and good luck...

Put the canned food out in the morning and in the evening only. Leave a dry food out all day. Cat's shouldn't have access to large amounts of canned food all day 'cause they'll eat it 'til they puke, if there's enough of it. They do snack most of the time on the dry stuff though. Check with your Vet ... that's what we were told when our cat was a kitten. It's 5 years old now and we still do the same routine ... 1/2 a can of wet food in the morning, 1/2 a can when we eat our dinner with the dry food is in a bowl all day long. Our cat is healthy and not under fed.

Read the label on the can. It will tell you how much you should be feeding them depending on their weight. Kittens have a LOT of growing to do. They can gain several ounces in a few days. And they never sit still, so they burn a lot of calories. If you feed them what the can recommends, you know they'll be okay. Also, a really good quality diet (without "junk food" like Meow Mix), will mean they have to eat less of the food to make up the calories, which means fewer cans.
My almost four month kitten gets half a can of Science Diet kitten food, twice a day (once in the morning and once at night), as well as dry Canin to snack on when she wants it. I asked my vet, and she said that was fine, especially since we suspect she has some Maine Coon in her and she's going to be a BIG cat.

Feed them a quality canned food. Natural Balance is being sold now at my local pet discount store as is Wellness. When kittens get quality meat they are more satisfied and don't eat as much. They should still be eating about four meals a day, maybe three times. Each kitten would need a can a day. If you must use the dry food from Natural Balance or Solid Gold. Give the meat morning and night and use the dry food for their eating during the day.

You didn't say whether or not you're feeding them dry food in addition to the "big tin" of what sounds like canned. Since you're leaving food out all the time, I suspect it's dry.
Dry food is made mostly of grains that cat's can't properly digest, and it's almost all carbohydrates. Carbs are even worse for cats than they are for us.
Kittens need to eat a lot bcause they need lots of nutrition, and if they're on dry food they aren't getting much nutrition. It's not uncommon for cats who eat a lot of dry food to become obese and malnourished at the same time!
Here's a website you should check out. Read what's there and you'll know more about feline nutrition than most vets!

Kittens need small, frequent meals. Put out food for them and when they leave the plate or bowl, take it away. Feed them again in about two hours. You'll know when they are hungry. Usually at this age, they are still nursing too - any time they want to. Is Mom Cat still around? At PetSmart or the grocery store, there is a special canned kitten milk (DONT USE ANY OTHER KIND!!!) so maybe try that to help keep their tummies full.

It is a good idea to feed them once or twice a day. Feed them what the label says is proper serving size for them. If you leave it down all day they will become finicky (a cat...never) and eat when they feel like it. Also if they only eat at certain times you can see if there are any changes in their food intake (eating more, eating less, etc.) so if there is a problem you will know before its to the point of vomiting or loose stool.

They are just little so they will eat but dont let them eat alot because more than likely they'll get worms and bloat and alot of food might make them sick. I'd say just put a little down every 3 or 4 hours and them eat just the selected amount you set out. As they get bigger they wont eat so much.I had my cat untill he was 11 yrs and he was the same way. Then I just put dry food down and he eat it only when he was hungry and every once in a while spoiled him with tuna.

My cats get wet food once a day in the evening when I come home from work. That's it. They have dry food available to them all day but there's no open buffet in our house. Your kittens need a feeding schedule, they can become overweight just like any other species. Nip this one in the bud while they are still really young.

Kittens are going through a critical growth rate of their first year, so it's very important that they eat a lot. They eat more than an adult dog. So it should be perfectly normal. If you read the feeding guidlines in the back of the dog food you'll see that they do get fed way more than adult cats.
