I can gate a room off, but that seems like a big pain. I am trying to think of something like a table, etc. that the dog can't get up on but the cat can't.....but NOT the kitchen cabinet. Has anyone put their cat box on the dryer?

I don't no anyone that put the cat litter box on top the dryer and u might not want to because its loud and shakes and when it shakes the litter box starts to shake and it might spill or fall off the dryer. But what u can do is put your dog outside or put the cat's box in a room that has a door and close the door so the dog won't go in and make a cat door where the cat can fit in but not your dog or put in a place where u cat goes a lot but your dog doesn't.

The invisible fence companies now have indoor zones that we used on our dogs to keep them out of the litter box. We put the zone on top of the litter box, (or next to it if it is uncovered) and set the distance the zone would reach and then put the collars on the dogs. It worked really well. But if you take the collars off or forget to turn them on the dog might still get in it now and then.
Also I used the zones to keep my cats off of the counters in my kitchen. The zones do not hurt the animals. The shock from the collar is the same as you dragging your feet on the carpet and touching something metal and getting that little zap. Nothing more. It doesn't electrocute them or anything. They do however have a weight restriction to use them ( I think its like nothing under 5 lbs.) Just another idea for you.

We have two dogs, one loves to get into the box. We put it up on a kitchen island in the basement, it's just high enough to keep the dogs out of it and the cats can get to it, no problem. We also installed a cat door so they can get to the basement without the dogs joining them. The door was easy to install and doesn't actually look bad at all, cat doors are so small in comparison to dog doors...it might be an option if you wanted to put it in another room.

i got a covered litter box and face the opening towards the corner of the room, only about 6 inches from the wall so the cats can go in and out but the dog can't get her head in it.

I have a dog who used to just love to eat the cat poo out of the cat box. I just yelled at her to get out of it and then stick her face in it. And she hasnt done it since. She used to do it all the time.

I keep my cat's box in the garage. (heated garage at that) That is like their own room and the dog doesn't go out there at all.
