There are two things:
1~My 6 month old kitten sucks on her fur. I have no problem with it, but I'm wondering: Will she stop?
ALSO:
2~Before she drinks water, she splashes it EVERYWHERE with her paws and then flicks it in your face(EVEN WITH TOILET WATER!!!!) It gets all over my wood floor and I'm also wondering if this will stop.

THANKS!!!

The sucking is because her mom abandoned her at an early age, so she wasn't ready to stop nursing.

Kittens or cats suck (nurse) and knead in an effort to regain those kitten feelings of comfort and security when they were suckling attheir momma's **** and kneading her belly. Don't attempt to stop kitty when she does this because she gains a great deal of comfort from the ritual. As she matures, the behavior will lessen... but most cats will do it from time to time way into their mature years - usually they knead on something soft like your lap or belly.

As for playing with water ... that's a bit more tricky becuase your kitten has discovered that the water bowl is also an INTERESTING TOY. My kitten used to topple his bowl over just to watch the water spill out. So, one day, I found this pet bowl with a base that is much wider than the top making it difficult for clever kitties to topple over. My kitty quit trying to topple the bowl over after he discovered it can't be done.

So, my suggestion is:
1> toilet bowl: dissuade kitty from even thinking of drinking or playing with the water there by placing a block of "toilet blue" in the toilet water tank. It will turn your toilet water blue and give it a wonderful smell that is a turn-off to cats. My cats never drank again from the toile bowl after once discovering that it had turned mysteriously BLUE.

2> tapping and flicking the water in her water bowl: tis behavior will eventually stop if you provide kitty with other MORE interesting toys. You can experiment with a very wide but very shallow dish that will not have too high a water mark for the kitty to flick. Perhaps she'll lose interest this way

Good luck

When cats groom their selfs, they do not suck, they lick, so that is not grooming. I would think that Is a habit that she may not grow out of because of the lack of milk she recieved when she was little. I think instead of giving her water, try some milk until she stops sucking.

for the splashing, that is really annoying. For the sake for your face you should keep the toilet closed when no being used. If the splashing does not stop and it is bothering you, jsut scold her when she is older. Cats are supposed to live a fun life, but also at some point they have to stop flinging pee everywhere and grow up, and start chasing birds and batting toys instead.

I saw the pictures....... Cute cat!!!

Happy holidays :-]

Her "sucking" on her fur is her grooming herself, and you better hope that doesn't stop!

Splashing the water is just her having fun, she may or may not grow out of it... Just close the toilet and put a mat under her water dish :-)

the sucking is due to separation from mom, kitten might not have been ready for such a change, it usually stops, try giving her new toys to stimulate her mind, might make her forget about sucking...& splashing, may or may not stop, but kittens are more curious therefore they aren't to afraid to dabble in the water, but usually as they get older, they know what it is & their natural aversion to water kicks in, give it time
