I just rubbed some ointment on the cat's chin for his acne (the vet gave me this stuff). Now I find him gurgling when he breathes and purrs. He's never done this before, so should I be concerned?

My theory is that the cat's oil in their fur repels the oils from the poison oak. Our friends are freaking out saying "Don't touch the cats! You might give our baby poison oak!" We think they are overreacting. What do you think?

Ok, first let me say that Sonny has been to the vet and been termed healthy in that he doesn't have worms, and is feline lukemia negative, he has had all his shots too. What worries me is that he's not putting on weight, he's all skin and bones. He's a 7mo old siamese mix, white with sunny yellow ears, nose and tail and very blue eyes. We gave him chicken one day, and he ate it, but didn't seem to digest it, looked like he just passed it right through. We have recently changed his diet, we went from special kitty to whiskas - would that be the problem? Since noticeing his condition, we acted on advice from our local pet store and bought him diamond cat food and have had him on canned food like you give kittens. He has a good appetite, but isn't putting on pounds. Anyone else have a cat like this? Ever had one? Any serious help or advice is welcome at this point.

Our two female cats (Laxy and Solo) are almost a year old. Solo got out a while ago and we thought she was lost for good. We took in a male kitten (Bork) and then Solo reappeared! Bork growls at the cats and they stalk and attack him, especially Solo. Will they get over this or do I have to find a new home for Bork? I hope not, we love him.

I just got a kitten who is almost 3 months old. It's a long-haired male, solid white, with ice blue eyes. I wanted to name him something for his eyes, but can't seem to think of anything that suits me. My husband wants it to have a "manly name" (as I roll my eyes), so I'm stuck! What on earth should I name my kitten???

Kitten was found abandoned on beach. Been hand rearing it for 8 days. Had no visible illness or injuries. Last night the eye swelled. Today it was draining. Vet can not see till tomorrow. Was able to drain infected area by gently putting pressure on it. Yellow pus came out. Using hot compresses to draw infection to surface. Kitten lives in carrier on heating pad. Not around any other animals or anything at all to have been injured. Have carrier completely padded. What could this be? It definitely is an abcess. Could it have been festering for the 8 days? The kitten's eyes are not even open yet. Could the actual eye be damaged because that is where the infection is? Not URI or LRI. Has anyone seen this ever? Can antibiotics even be administered at this age?

I once read a brief article that said that at one time and place in history, cats were herded on a regular basis. I can't remember where I read it, and I'd love to get any info on actual cat herding in the past or present.

Our cat "buddy" has allergies. We take him to the vet once every two months. Our question is " where can we get cordisone tablet without paying a Vet bill. Or, is there such a thing?
Any answers are welcome, especially from cat owners, thanks

My girl kitty is Sweetie McSweeterson and has the cutest little meow, likes to sit on my lap, bumps her head up whenever you pet her, and is the cutest, softest lil poofball you'll ever meet. My boy is Bratty McBratterson who meows all the time, doesn't like to cuddle or sit on my lap, gets the most attention and is connected to my soul (we were meant to be together...). Anyway, he's just a brat! He beats up on his sister anytime she gets some love, gets what he wants, when he wants, tries to trip me when i'm walking, and follows me everywhere. He's jealous, i'm aware of that, but does he have to be such a butthole?!
