I once read a brief article that said that at one time and place in history, cats were herded on a regular basis. I can't remember where I read it, and I'd love to get any info on actual cat herding in the past or present.

Believe it or not, Maine Coon cats have a "herding" instinct, and have been know to "round up" other cats they live with, herding them up stairs, down halls, etc. They have been seen in feral cat colonys to herd the whole coloony around.

Oh come on! Of course you can herd them! One pair of 5 month old kittens = a herd of wild horses. Just open a can of sardines or a packet of bonita flakes, let them get a whiff and all the cats will follow you like the Pied Piper!
OK It's not funny. The video below is funny and there are some products on EBay you can buy, but an uncontrolled feral cat population can be a serious problem. So we should promote cat herding, so they can all be collected, neutered and returned to the wild or given homes.

I'm not entirely sure you can herd cats. They would probably just run all over the place to get away from you.
