My cat used to do that every year. One thing that I did was get one of those carpet things, (I forget what it is called) that rapped around the tree. It was cute and it covered the water, making it unable for my cat to drink it. But if you are talking about your cat actually getting up in the tree, what I would do is try to get a tree with a lot of branches, or set the tree in a place where your cat can't reach, or doesn't know about. If this advice doesn't help, you could try an old technique that usually works. Every time your cat gets in the tree, spray it with water until it stops. I know it seems mean, and your cat may hate you for a few days, but it really does work. My cat used to get up on my kitchen counter and I did that and it helped a lot. She never gets on the counter anymore. Try it and see if it helps. If it doesn't, I am sorry. =]

Been working on this for years. Put the packages around the tree so that they are unstable or make a rustling sound cats hate to be off balance and some noises or textures upset them otherwise just keep shuuing them away . I have one that likes to tear the balls off and the fuzzy angels. They just want in on the festivities too. Be paitient okay. Merry Christmas to you and your cat.

Well, our cats sit on the carpet thing, go too sleep...
So everytime they get comfy... WHAM!!! smash a book or something to wkae them up. After about 4 times, they don't even eant to see the tree.

The most my cats ever do, is lay underneath the tree, or maybe bat at an ornament or two, but, nothing drastic!
