I just rubbed some ointment on the cat's chin for his acne (the vet gave me this stuff). Now I find him gurgling when he breathes and purrs. He's never done this before, so should I be concerned?

Sounds as if kitty has an upper respitory infection. If there is a 24 hour vet in your area contact them and take him in. Cats can have almost the same inflictions that we as human contract only a simple infection in humans ccan be life threatening to them so please call someone tonight if possible and if not keep cat comfortable and take first thing in morning.

LOL, I love that sound! Both my kitties make that noise, like a meowing-purr. Perfectly normal. It's a happy or playing or I'm curious kind of sound.

Yes you should be very concerned, your cat could have the cat flu and that is very contagous, have you got any other cats? I suggest you part them away from your sick cat and take her to the vets it is a very common sickness in cold areas but very dangeours. People can't catch the cat flu.
Good luck I hope she gets better soon.

I think everything is fine. I had a cat that would gurgle and drool while he purred. He would knead his paws at the same time. It was usually when he was feeling better and happy after a trying day.

Talk to your vet immediately. It could be a side effect or allergy to the medication. If your vet cannot be reached, there should be an emergency animal hospital in your area. Call them for advice.

First, try to hold your cat upside down on your open palm. From there, start applying pressure to it's stomach. Keep applying pressure until the cat caughs up a hairball, you hear a loud crack (Kitty spine), or you hear a pop (internal organs bursting). If that doesn't work, lick it's nose to make it sneeze!

Hmm. Might just be a hairball brewing. I used to give my cats a bit of Vaseline for that - worked like a charm and they loved it. Good luck!
