Cats - June 2006

[Selected]: All categories Pets Cats

We have a semi-house cat, she's too wild to pick up but she'll come inside to take a short nap or eat something. She's always been very small for her age (she's about 18 months now but could be mistaken for a growing kitten) and she has had a first kitten. The kitten didn't live, she didn't take care of it just sort of lugged it around immediately after birth and dumped it in the house that same day. She is now a very different cat, very withdrawn, not eating, not as forward as she was. She's also disappeared for a few days this week and now she's back but very distant and eating even less.

my cats are over a year old and have recently started to shed really bad, could there be an underlying problem or is this normal?

They were pretty friendly and came into my house to eat some cat food. I am wondering if they belong to somebody since they are pretty friendly, although they don't have any collars on and it was 1 in the morning when I found them. What should I do with these guys?

I know this sounds stupid, and I've never seen it in other cats. My cat Stinky (8 years old, neutered male...adopted stray with his brother Blinky) does this...If I haven"t seen him for a few hours, when he comes to greet me, he arches his back a little and vibrates his tail...from the rump to about the middle of his tail. Blinky doesn't do this. It's sort of comical. Does your cat do this?

my cat is really lazy and i have 3 jobs and he doesn't do anything. he calls my cell all day demanding things. he refuses to help out with the bills and all he does is play MY Xbox all day, that i paid for. i've tried talking to him about this but he's so hard to talk to when he's drunk. what a jerk.

I cannot believe that somebody is that stupid. And also some of the replies he got, thinking that it was funny. I am no longer amazed about how many idiot cretins are in the world. Is Dongivaphk going to give liquor to babies too? If people hate cats so much, they should start a group someplace for cat haters and leave the cat lovers group alone. What I don't know still hurts me.

He is a good cat, never any trouble, was declawed by previous owners, so is an indoors only cat. In the pst week, he has urinated twice on the counter in front of me, and once in my husbands empty lunchbox, and has been meowing at us like he is trying to tell us something, but does not appear to be sick or in pain. Any ideas of what he might be trying to say? (Litter box is kept clean)

Funny story for any cat-lovers or people who are very knowledgable when it comes to felines. I was sitting in front of my couch today (note: not on it, in front of it) with my laptop on my lap. My male cat, Simba was sitting on the couch. So I started playing a song on my laptop ("I Need You" by The Swift) and I started singing along to the song. Simba just goes crazy!! He's moewing his head off, bugging me, jumping over me. I kept singing because Simba is a very weird cat in general. But twice he was on the couch and walked up to me, since my shoulder was pretty level with the couch. He comes and put his paw on my shoulder and practically blows my ear drum out and scares the crud out of me with the loudest meow EVER and his mouth open to it's full extent, I'm sure! He also starts acting funny when I start whisting. Has this happened to any of you guys before? Why is he acting like this? He's kind of freaking me out! (He's about a year and a half old and a total sanguine!)

I don't want her to stay in some kind of cat kennel, and the person renting the house is allergic to cats. I haven't found anyone so far that will take her...any suggestions?

This is related to an earlier question I had. I've taken my 10 year old cat out onto the balcony with me this evening and she keeps trying to put her head in between the poles and has gotten onto the roof of an adjacent window that's next to my balcony (when I wasn't looking for a minute). I let her back inside. Won't she get hurt if she falls from the second story?

Could it be a health problem? My mom stepped on one the other day, she thought it was a thorn in the rug, and sure enough the poor thing was missing one. He's lost more since then, but only a few. Oh he is an older cat, if that helps.

I put a tray under it to catch some of the litter, but it is not big enough. Is there something I can put around it, as well as under it? I am trying to avoid getting litter on the wall, as well as in the carpet.

Real answers only, or I will report you.

My family and I took in this black kitten that we found in our front yard (A month or two ago). We took it to the vet - blah, blah, blah. Got it checked for disease and everything. It is a male kitten. It ALWAYS playfuly bit (not usually breaking the skin). It still does. (We don't know what to do about that..) It is getting bigger, and we have noticed it's tail is very large, and doesn't look like a normal cat tail. Is it possible that there could be some black panther in it's blood? (I live where there are panthers).

Thanks.
