If most of the scratcing is on corners of your couch or chair, a cheap easy fix is to put clear shipping tape where they like to scratch. The nail stick in it they dont like that. the tape is less noticable on muti color and light color fabric. Worked on my cat.

No I Am Not Sure Where You Can Get The Spray Or What Ever
But, Here Is A Tip:-
1 - Get A Comfy Play House Where You Can Put Your Cats When You Are Busy Doing Something.
2 - Buy or Make A Small Size Scratching Post/Wall
3 - Put The Scratching Post/Wall In The Play House
4 - Put Your Cat's Inside The Play House
5 - Close The Door of The Play House

Try getting your cat a scratching post, and encouraging it to use it by bringing her to the post, and placing her claws on the post whenever you witness her scratching the furniture. To encourage her to further use the post, try spraying some catnip spray available from most pet supply stores on the post. You can also buy a spray (can't remember the name....you can ask the pet supply store person though) that actually averts your cat from going near the furniture or other places you don't want it to go near. When you see her using the scratch post, reward her with kitty treats, cuddles and lots of praises.
good luck!

There's a spray that I bought at www.1-800-petmeds.com that you can use. I think PetSmart carries it also. You should buy them those cardboard scratching boxes are a sisal scratching post. Try rubbing it with catnip oil or catnip until they get used to using it. Although the humane society recommends not declawing them, I had all of my cats front paws only declawed. But if your cats go outside, they need all of their claws for protection.

Try going to some place like Petsmart, they have sprays that repel cats and dogs that are safe for furniture, and maybe you could get a scratching post for the cats.

Good luck LOL. We have a scratching post, toys, put catnip on the things we'd like the cat to scratch - but she still goes for the furniture and carpets. I'll be back to see if somebody does have a remedy that really works. :)

Try putting double-sided sticky tape on the legs of the chairs. The kind that comes in handled rolls, meant for picking up fur from cusions and whatnot, works well. The cats won't like the feel of sticky furniture. And give them an alternative, such as the catnip-enhanced cardboard posts you can hang on doorknobs. =)

I have 2 cats and they loved to use my sofa as their scratching post... until.....
I discovered a product called SuperScractcher by SmartyKat. It's a thick piece of side cut cardboard so that the rough side is open for scratching. It even comes with organic catnip which attracts your cat to it. Mine love it so much they sleep on it! And my sofa and carpets love that they are no longer scratched.

I've had cats for nearly 40 years, sorry, the only answer I have is to de-claw. Yes, I know a lot of folks think that's barbaric, but if your cat goes outside (which I don't recommend, reduces life expectancy by 10 years) it can still climb, and it can still mouse without claws.

get something else for the cat to scratch and use "bad cat spray" on the cat when it tries to scratch the furniture
we tried scratching posts and carpet remnants and then got the "turbo scratcher" at K Mart...our cat loves the Turbo!
