Yes, I think they do. Mine likes to scratch all around in there, top and bottom and sides of the enclosed litter box, everywhere but where the poop is and it never gets covered up... I think my cats are retarded.

I have noticed that. Maybe it's just like Men and Woman, with the woman supposedly spending more time cleaning.
True story...one day, my male Siamese was having a poo at the same time I was having a wee (litter box in the bathroom). When he was done, he exited without burring it at all. I said, "CJ!!! Get back there and bury that stinky poo" and I swear, he walked back over, stuck his nose in the box (covered litter box) turned his nose up, stuck his paw in and buried it. Then looked at me like, "Is that better?" I said "yes" and he went on his way.

I have a male and a female cat, she does take longer in there, she has to cover up her mess and the mess the male didnt cover when he was in there. Thank God for her he is a real stinker.

Never noticed. I have noticed that males are very possessive of their litter. Whenever I try to add fresh litter, they can't stand it. They are all up in it trying to see what I am doing.

We've had several of each, and they all seemed to take equal time in the box. :D
