I don't want her to stay in some kind of cat kennel, and the person renting the house is allergic to cats. I haven't found anyone so far that will take her...any suggestions?

You could ask your vet. They know people who take care of cats that are up for adoption. They might know someone who does cat sitting in their own home, and would be willing to do it for that long. Someone recommended by a vet would be a good choice. It's free to ask.

What about a close friend who's experienced with taking care of cats? Or the local pet hotel?

I'd ask my parents/siblings/relatives/friends that I trust to take my cat in if I could not bring the cat with me on a trip.
