We have a woodpecker who is VERY persistent. We spray a foam in the hole to cover it up and he pecks around it. I cant keep it away.

Lucky spends hours online and needs entertainment too. The Washington Post and BBC just don't excite him, but every now and then I hit some website and he leans forward and starts chatting a mile a minute. Red bouncing balls, or other Red-Lored Amazons talking does it, but we are only on a phone-line here... (snail-like intenet access...) Thank you in advance.

We just brought home three week old chicks from the feed store and they are happy and cozy and warm and I could swear I just heard one of them singing--not peeping (they do a lot of that) but singing softly, like a canary almost. Do chicks sing?

Today, a male goldfinch flew onto the patio screen door a few times. He has never done that! Do you know what could be the reason? While he was there, he was just looking around. Maybe he was just being curious? It was very exciting because I was standing right in front of the door. He was about 2 inches from me! What did he want?

thanks

I always wanted to buy a canary. But the prices in pet stores were most expensive out of all birds for the canaries. They cost over a $100 sometimes. I was wondering if anyone knows any franchise or place where you can get a canary male bird for less than seventy dollars. Let me know guys. Peace.

I have a budgie, and he absolutly loves to play with the toys i buy him.
Onl problem is, sometimes he eats them.
Im not sure if they just break down from when he play with them, or if hes acually chewing them apart to eat.
Should i be worried?
Ive checked to make sure his poop is normal, becuase that is apparently the first ting to look at. It seemed normal( as far as i can tell, im no poop expert tho)
Im still worried tho.
What should i do about it? Are there some toys better than others?

Our 4 month old Cockatiel is friendly towards our older cockatiel, but he is rather mean towards her, but he loves her and flips out at us and attacks us if we go near her, and he tends to bite her.
how can we stop that.
And, the 4 month old baby is a little mena towards people, any way we can get her to be nicer?

Thanks

My mom's co-worker found an exhausted parakeet on her balcony last night. It needs a home, so I agreed to take it in - at least until it regains its strength or the original owners are found. I have never taken care of a bird before, so any good advice would be appreciated.

I have searched for information online, but it isn't 100% clear. I am going to the store in a couple of hours after I get off of work. What healthy foods do you suggest (in addition to bird seed) and how should they be prepared? Like I saw carrots suggested on a few sites. I assumed that raw is best, but then I read that parakeets eat soft foods. Would boiled carrots be better? What about bell peppers? Are they good or hard on the tummy? And I am assuming that spinach should be served raw?

Thanks in advance!

I just threw some wild bird seed over my backyard lawn. How do I know that they'll come and eat them? My grandpa does it everywhere, and they always come.

It's grown to about half the size of a golf ball. My parents won't take her to the vet because they say that we can't afford it. I don't want to lose her. What should I do?

I live in Chicago next to a creek & have a major geese problem this year. Last year there were many goslings that had hatched near the creek but they always stayed by the creek. Now this year, the geese have been spending time in my front yard and are becoming a nussiance and territorial. They hiss at me. I feel like I'm in a hitchcock film it's gotten so bad. What can I do to get rid of them on my own?

Hanging in a dead plant hanging basket ON MY PORCH! Apparently the sparrows enjoy my company. Five little babies are up there, completely silent...

and that's what worries me.

I've never seen silent baby birds. I took the nest down thinking the eggs had gone dead (I hadn't heard anything and I hadn't seen the parents there). And what do I see? Five little slightly feathery heads poking at me,mouthes wide open, wiggling all over the place.

So,I immediately put them back up-thankfully the sparrows aren't bothered by my scent, apparently, because I took it down accidentally once before (when I had no idea there was a nest up there and the little ones were still eggs).

The fact they made no noise worries me,though. Could it simply be they're too young? but as I said... I've never heard of a baby bird that wasn't loud and annoying. ^^

We have baby chicks that are 2 1/2 weeks old, we have a few questions:
1) We're sure we'll get at least one rooster, aside from light detection, what is the earliest time you can tell. (anytime before they get combs)
2) When do they start laying eggs?
3) How many eggs do chickens normally lay in a week period?
