how can you tell if your parkeet is a girl or a boy???

Gender: It is difficult to determine gender on the young Keets, however a mature male will usually have blue around the nose holes (cere) and the female will have a tan or pink cere. Purple cere is an indication of a young male parakeet.

Parakeets are sexed by the skin over their noise or their cere. Males usually have a bright to deep blue and the females can be anywhere from purple to brown. When they're young the males will usually start out with a small amount of blue around the actual nostrils that will get darker and deeper in colour as they grow up. Some females may look like they have a blue tinge but will never get darker.
Hope this helps!

Look at your parakeet's beak ... there is a little space right above it that is either 'blue' or 'tan' ... and if your bird isn't still a 'baby' you know a 'blue' band means you have a boy parakeet, and if it's a girl, the band is 'tan.' If you 'can't tell' the color EASILY then your bird is 'too young' to tell it's gender in this way, but if you can just 'wait for about a month' (generally) then you should be able to discern the 'color' easily.

The boys have a blue band over their beak. The girls have either pink or brown. In Latinos and Albinos, the bands (called are ceres) are both pink in both sexes.

In adult MALES, the cere is BLUE all over.
In adult FEMALES, the cere VARIES. Females grow an ugly brown crusty skin on the cere when they are ready to breed.

cere (the fleshy skin over the beak, where the nostrils are).

It can be impossible to tell without having them sexed. However, they say that the male have a darker purple band above their beak. The females can be very light purple to white.

walk around the room scantily dressed. If it watches your every move - its a boy.

If it turns up its nose and says something snotty about your outfit - its a girl.
