I live in Chicago next to a creek & have a major geese problem this year. Last year there were many goslings that had hatched near the creek but they always stayed by the creek. Now this year, the geese have been spending time in my front yard and are becoming a nussiance and territorial. They hiss at me. I feel like I'm in a hitchcock film it's gotten so bad. What can I do to get rid of them on my own?

I live in the country, you can call animal control or read what I would do. Could take a few days though. If someone was feeding them near your yard they probably associate it with food. My geese hissed and ran after my neighbors until they complained to much I had to pen them. Try either pieces of white bread or grissini. Grissini would probably be best to start with as it is longer and they will go for it in your hand but bite off only a little. Always walk away from your yard towards the creek until they start following you. After doing this for a few days, do not give them the bread, walk straight to the creek and then put it on the ground for them. Walk to your yard in a different direction so they do not see how you got there. I know it sounds like a long process, but this is what I did to help my friend having the same problem. Good Luck!

This is quite tricky although I have the same issue, however try placing a fake snake in the grass and use fishing wire to make it move. These guys dislike snakes specially around egg laying time.

Borrow a big dog.
