"Dead" is not the word to describe frozen chicken eggs. ;) Dead is not but the absence of life, but the absence of life where it once was. Chicken eggs are often unfertilized, as they are candled to make sure they are clear. However, sometimes a just-laid fertilized egg will appear just as the rest - in fact, many times it will! There is no way to tell the difference at such an age, but don't feel sad. Fertilized eggs, at such a stage, are merely capable (or once capable) of life. Keeping eggs at anything under 10 degrees usually causes severe damage to the yolk, or germinal disc to be specific, on which the chick will grow. Anyone who's taking embryology will tell you so. However, eggs that have just been packaged and frozen just for a while may still be viable, and out of maybe 50 eggs you may get 1 or 2 chicks if you're lucky. However, I am very doubtful a chicken would want to sit on 50 eggs, or that you'd want to waste your time and money on such a project.

sorry but eggs from the market are unfertilizedso they are unlikely to hatch. Also, the eggs are very likly to stick to your hen's feathers until it is a little defrosted.

maximum supermarkets now sell containers of double yolk eggs . i purchase them from Tesco . whether the suited eggs we ever had have been some years in the past while my mum used to get eggs from a close-by farm . They actually had a diverse style and all the hens ran loose on the farmyard
