It's grown to about half the size of a golf ball. My parents won't take her to the vet because they say that we can't afford it. I don't want to lose her. What should I do?

Is it possible that your lovebird has been loving, and may be pregnant?

I am not sure what you mean. Maybe check on the internet for diseases, and problems. It may just be getting larger. Moniter the bird, and make sure he/she is eating and drinking. Maye sure it is comfortable, and in quiet, just in case there is something wrong. Call the vet, and ask if they can tell you. You don't HAVE to go to them just because they say you should, i would highly recommend it, because it sound like it could be a bad disease for your bird. Ask for a quote, to see how much it will be. And if it is cheap enough, go asap. Your bird needs, help.

One of my parakeets had a cancerous lump in her belly. I took her to the vet, was told that he would probably kill the bird, trying to treat her. She lived about a month. I had no idea that birds got cancer, but apparently they do. She was a jewel, and I miss her.

Simple solution... TAKE HER TO THE VET. Sorry for the caps but I need emphasis. It can't be that expensive, it's a small bird.
