I just got an 11 week old cockatiel today, and was just wondering what ways you can ease it into it's new home. Right now he is in his cage just in complete shock. When we opened the door he flew out. At the store he was the sweetest bird. It is completely understandable that he is just freaked out becuase of his new environment. I was just wondering on some ways, so that he can be calmer and more comfortable with us.

He sees his reflection and attacks. He scratches our mirrors and poops on our cars. This menace must be stopped!

Hi my bird has been plucking feathers.
She lives in a large cage out side 6 ft high, 2 x 3 metres wide, This cage is based outside about 10 metres away from the house..
I think the feather plucking is from stress and boredom..

Would it stress her more if i bought a metre high cage and bought her inside sometimes?

Do you think this is funny? We got a three year old African grey, who was owned before by a really nice lady. But the lady didnt teach her to say anything. So it is the second day that we have had her. And this is what she has done so far. My mom was reading and I was on the computer and Danny AKA:The Bird said "What ya doing?". And after sahe ate breakfast this morning she was making my cellphones ringtone. Then Made our security alarms noise, then all out of the ordinary said "OK". And yestday she was popping noices like my gum and like my moms boyfriend farting . My ringtone is the song "U and Dat" And when it plays she bobs her head up in down. Please tell me that our bird is really smart. NOW I WANT TO HERE ABOUT ALL THE THINGS YOUR PARROT DOES!

I have a cockatiel that is 10 months old. She chews on everything and poops everywhere. I love her but my husband wants to get rid of her because of this what can I do. How do I train her. I have tried puting her in her cage whenever she does something wrong but it is not working. She chews on wires, buttons on remotes. Anything rubber, paper, wood, plastic, shoelaces, zippers, toys. Basically anything she can get her beak on. She is out of her cage probably 4 to 5 hours a day. She is my baby. She follows me in the shower anywhere I go. As soon as she sees me she is marching to come out. She has 3 wooden perches, 1 swing and stairs, a cuttle bone and 3 toys in her cage. Her cage is 2 1/2 feet tall by 1 1/2 feet wide. I will try anything. Any feedback will be much appreciated.

My father and i found a small bird on the road when driving. Dad took his shirt off and grabbed the bird. We put it in a box in a dark room covered in a blanket but dad seems to think it's going to die of shock. It's just staying still but it's deffinetly alive. Should i ring the wildlife rehabilitators or not? Will it die before they get here or will it be ok?
Please hurry.

on average it is about 30 degrees or colder outside this time of year. The birds are in the house and I set the heat to about 60 degrees at night. Could it have been too cold at night for them.

Could it be that the birds sensed the depression and stress I've been going through lately and the vibes gave them a heart attack.

Could it be the aroma from the spicy food that my mother in law cooked.

Its not the food or water we gave to the birds. and the birds always had food and water.

On my parents property there are 30 plus wild turkeys and deer. My dad stands on the deck every morning and throws dog food out to them and the deer and the turkeys and my parents dog and cat all sit out there together and eat this dog food like one big happy family. My only concern is will this cause the turkeys and deer to get used to being fed by humans or will always survive in the wild on their own.

We got a call from the animal shelter early this spring, wanting a home for two white farm geese. We have a pond on our property, we took the geese and they have taken to living here well. We feed them each day, and they love being on the pond. My concern is this winter when the pond possibly freezes. My husband built a shelter for them, and they refuse to go in, We try to put their food bowl in there each day so that they will get used to going in, but they just drag the food bowl out. I have grown so attached to them, I don't want them to suffer this winter, but they seem to be stubborn. Yesterday the wind chill was 14 and very strong winds, they still stayed on the pond. They follow me around when I go out to feed them, one of them will let me pet it, but the other one has never let me get with more than maybe a foot and a half close to it. I just don't want anything to happen to them. They are so sweet. I just want to make sure they survive the winter. Thanks!

I'm trying to help my cockatiel bath by turning the water in the sink low and setting her in so she can bathe and clean her feathers and stuff. The problem is, everytime I tried this she kept running up my arm to my shoulder. I tried turning the water off then setting her in, then turning water on but it didn't work. All that happened after this was her tail feathers got wet. I took her out and brought her back so she could settle down a bit. Now when I put her on my finger she's terrified that she has to bathe again and she jumps on my shoulder. Please, I need tips so my cockatiel won't be afraid. I've tried the sink 3 times. She always chirps and screams when I try. (I don't need people saying why are you giving your bird a bath! etc.) I need real answers from experts
