Yes, old birds can learn new tricks. LOL!!!
Birds learn slowly. You will need to start slow and continue that way, maybe for months, until they respond.
From now on, all things good and yummy comes directly from your fingers. Only the healthy foods in the dishes. Most animals can be bribed with food.
Parakeets will pay more attention to parakeet friends than they will to human ones. Consider getting seperate cages. It will take longer if they stay together.
Cheers.

I believe you can with lots of patience. Be very calming, talk sweet and slowly rest your finger next to the perch. Be very still and wait. If the bird is still but uninterested, slowly slide your finger under it's claw to see if you can ease it onto your finger. always be very patient and talk to it calmly. It might then re-adjust itself so it is sitting on your finger, be very still and just let it get used to using your finger for a perch. I have a new very scared parakeet, this approach worked the 2nd day I had it. I didn't try to take it out of the cage though, each day go a little further until your bird trusts you. New surroundings are very intimidating so it'll take a bit to adjust for the birds......good luck!

It can be done but it takes longer than a baby. I think it would be eaisest with food if simply getting them to perch on your hand like you train a baby fails. My colony of budgies are wild yet some of them come to me to jump into the feed dish when I bring it in the morning these are all older birds I have never tried to tame them.
I think they just want to see what I add to the food every day. They get a cooked parrot mix 50-60% 15% seed 15% crushed pellet and the balance is fruit, fresh veggie, peanuts etc.
They dont come to me other times of the day if I walk in the aviary but neither do they fly arround scared. They have got used to me over time. If you are feeding a diet of pellets offer something they really like from your hand like millet. You cant rush them. They will also tame easier if they are separated but if the have been together a long time this will cause them stress to then separate. Talk to them lots and when they start getting excited about getting new food in the cage this would be the time to go further and offer choice item from your hand.

It's never too late to start training a parakeet. If you were a parakeet, you probably would't trust yourself either. So give them time to adapt to you, and before you know it they'll be crawling all over you.

yes its possible as long as the birds your trying to trian are not onry (mean) and stuck up. when i first got my parakeet from my aunt he was not trianed and he was five years olf.
what i did was i would feed him with my hand and now he just jumps on my finger automatically.
