I have been having the same parakeets for about one year, so I think they are ready to breed. I have 2 parakeets. I'm pretty sure one is male and female.

To confirm if you have a male and female check the cere, the fleshy area above the beak where the nostrils are. Blue for male, brown for female
Your parakeets will be ready to breed when the following conditions are met.
They have completed a moult , the male cere will turn a deeper shade of blue, the female cere will start to turn a deeper brown even appear crusty looking.
There must be more available foods, not just the normal.
The amount of light and heat are increased

The area around their nose (nostrils) is called the Cere. Its colored Blue in adult Males and Brown in Adult Females. When they are ready to breed, (about 9 months to a year old) you will see the male's cere is Deep Blue in Color, and the Female's is Dark Brown. When they are younger and not ready to breed, the female's is a tan color, (or sometimes pink), and the males is a real pale blue....

Good luck on your birds. p.s. If you have trouble getting them started breeding, they sometimes do better if you have more than 1 pair. But look out! after they get started, you'll have lots of beautiful babies!!! I have finch now because they are much quieter than parakeets, but I really miss my parakeets!

Enjoy

Parakeets are ready to breed after they are one year old. But if you want them to be safe and have healthy babies then breed them when they are both 1 and 1/2 years.
