These guys are such good parents they will most likely sit on the eggs right there in the gravel dish and raise the babies!

If they don't start sitting on the eggs after they finish laying (4 to 6, usually) then pull the eggs out, throw them away, and get a small wicker nest basket at the local pet store. Give them some grass, yarn, ect. for nesting material, and feed them well. different veggies from the kitchen, bread, cooked pasta, fruit (mine are not good fruit eaters) rice, scrambeled or hard boiled eggs... Then, STAND BACK! you will eventually have so many babies that you will want to separate the males from the females!!

Enjoy them, They are wonderful ,adn they sing a real silly little song!

Zebra finches are well known for laying eggs in odd places (Even food dishes!) and still hatching out the eggs and raising a good brood of babies. However, If I where you, I would buy one of those $8 finch baskets for them as it will hold on to heat and nestinf materials. Give them bits of paper, cloth, and dry grass to build a nest. While they may have babies on the floor, ir isnt all that warm there so a nesting basket it the best option.

keep an eye on the birds and their eggs. anything looks wrong such as the parents aren't sitting on their eggs, remove the eggs.
