Do you think this is funny? We got a three year old African grey, who was owned before by a really nice lady. But the lady didnt teach her to say anything. So it is the second day that we have had her. And this is what she has done so far. My mom was reading and I was on the computer and Danny AKA:The Bird said "What ya doing?". And after sahe ate breakfast this morning she was making my cellphones ringtone. Then Made our security alarms noise, then all out of the ordinary said "OK". And yestday she was popping noices like my gum and like my moms boyfriend farting . My ringtone is the song "U and Dat" And when it plays she bobs her head up in down. Please tell me that our bird is really smart. NOW I WANT TO HERE ABOUT ALL THE THINGS YOUR PARROT DOES!

My African Grey calls the dogs when I go to the door... she says "mom" in all 3 of my kids' voices. Says "what?" in MY voice... she's hysterical. She barks like my dogs and cries along with them when they are outside wanting to come in. She whistles the end of the "Spongebob Squarepants" theme... and the theme to "Ed, Edd and Eddy." She can squeak like my dog's squeaky toy, but only does it when we're playing with the dogs... the point is she KNOWS what she's saying and when to say it.

She has picked out only me to be friends with tho... everyone else is scared of her.

She also laughs like us, burps and farts like us... so nobody in the house can cuss... she makes the sound of a coke can opening up too. She's sort of a reflection of our lives in this house.. I think it's awesome.

The previous owner may not have taught her to say anything, but she could have learned it from hearing her talk and the TV. African greys are the best talkers and mimics. They can sound like a dog or cat or even a door opening. Parrots have the mentality of a 5 year old child. They are all very intellegent. I am not saying your bird is and is not. I am sure when no one was around her before she practiced a lot. My parrot talks all the time, and likes practicing when she thinks we are not listening. Although the kind I have does not talk as well as an AG, she talks very good for a small parrot (quaker) she is only 6 months old and says about 6 or 7 things (clearly) but tries to say everything. she also laughs and screams and acts like my four year old son. ha ha. I would love an african grey, but I have read they are not good around small children and tend to pick one person to be their favorite, so make sure everyone in the home plays with her every day. if you want a nice well mannered african grey, Good luck sounds like a lot of fun

Ring Necks are great, and greater desirable, they're great for first birds. gray's are ridiculously clever, and as a result require various a while, even once you do not unavoidably have that factor to grant them. i'm not turning you against Greys, or a minimum of it is not my objective. What you're able to do is pass discover a place that has countless birds, and as quickly as you're there, spend a pair of hours socializing with the birds. you will confirm which of them thieve your heart. My record of admired birds keeps turning out to be, yet Macaws good it, hands down. Ringnecks are cool because of the fact they're so laid back and that they rather plenty pass with the pass. i've got in no way met a ringneck that had issues so extreme that their vendors could not safeguard them. Greys, I even have. sturdy good fortune!

LOL Your bird is really smart. It wouldn't have mattered if the previous owner taught your bird ANYTHING because Greys pick up on EVERYTHING. In my opinion, you have one of the smartest companion parrots available.

Because Greys are so intelligent, they easily become bored so be sure to do as much research as possible about their behaviors. A bored Grey frequently becomes a featherless Grey.

Good luck!
