Yes, I'm wondering about that. I'm about to get an aprtment (in two years) and am looking to adopt/foster/take care of a bird.

HOWEVER, well I know birds can't handle drafts, what about air conditioners?

Went I bought my first cockatiel (at Petland) they said an easy way to sex them is to look at the lines on the tail if they go horizontal that is a girl and if they go vertical that is a boy, does any one know if that is true?

Additional Details

I have one cockatiel and I want to buy another one so I can start breeding them,
and I am going to the pat store on Saturday.

i did research and read that the birds are not supposed to be on a seed only diet, fruits and veggies r suggested, they dont seem to eat things that i have offered, like carrots, celery, lettuce, and apples, do you have any suggestions to other stuff, or maybe is there a kind of special food for breeding birds that i can buy? i need help!!!

Two days ago I lost a parakeet, it's a she. She is green and yellow. She has a yellow colored head, light green breast area, and a light green stomach. (Yellow Tail) She is finger trained and is not able to fly too much. I think someone could have taken her. I live in Carteret, New Jersey. If anyone's seen this kind of bird. Please let me know.

I know it won't really help, but it never hurts to try. (Bird Lover)

I found an egg on a rock when I went up to Lake Las Vegas with my folks this past Sunday. It looked like a bird's egg(probably from a duck). I was tempted to sneak it home but my older sister made me leave it(I didn't touch it ether and there weren't any birds around ether). I felt guilty about leaving it on that rock.but I told myself the next time I found a bird's egg I probably won't leave it where I found it.

You think I should I leave the egg if I ever find another one like I did this past Sunday?

No jokes or wise cracks please.

The only reason why I would take it home would only because I wouldn't want any possible harm to come to it.

I've added the red feeder with the sugar mixture and I've counted about 5 different hummingbirds when I go out in the mornings and watch for awhile. I haven't really seen any throughout the day or in the evenings. Do they come out only in the mornings?
