I agree with all the others. But I would take them to a vet where you can get a spot on treatment which is easier to use than treatments from pet shops which need to be spread over the infected areas each day.

Also both birds will need to be treated as well as their cage and all things in it scrubbed extra clean.

Hi your bird probably has scaly face. Scaly face is caused by a mite called Cnemidocoptes pili and it burrows into the birds skin causing this condition. It would also be best to separate the healthy bird so that it will not get scaly face as well. Is there flaky white things coming off his feet and beak? if the condition is really sever the skin around the eyes will be affected also. try going to the pet store and picking up one of the many treatments available but make sure it is specifically to cure scaly face and it is for birds. Also it would be a good idea to call your vet and ask his opinion for the best thing to do.

I agree with steve..sounds like scaley beak. There is a topical medication you can get over the counter to treat it. You just rub it right on the infected areas. Look it up on the net and you can see pictures to compair it with. Good luck.

From your descriction it sound like a disease called scaly beak, it is caused by a microscopic mite and is cured with a medicine from any pet store specifically for scaly beak.
