I BOUGHT THIS TOY THAT HAD A MIRROR AND A RECORDER ON IT, EVERY TIME THEY MOVE IS SAYS WHAT YOU RECORED, YOU CAN RECORD THE BIRD OR YOU, SO I RECORED MY VOICE AND NOW MY PARROT TALKS, YOU SHOULD TRY IT, IT WORKS FAIRLY WELL.

Basically you talk to it. If you want it to repeat the same thing over and over again for no apparent reason whatsoever, then repeat a phrase over and over again or play the CD.
The bird is smart enough where it will react to you and say something meaningful. A bird can read your reactions. Let's say if it's hungry and you say the typical, "Polly, want a cracker." The bird will say that phrase when it's hungry or wants food. If you pet it and say, "I love you." The bird will repeat that phrase when it's being petted. etc. Basically say phrases that relate to the action and the bird will pick up on it.

i have a blue and gold macaw and i teach her word by repeating myself over and over and over again, if she has a fav toy try to get her to say the name of the toy, my bird loves this little shovel and it took about 2 months then one day she was in a really good mood and i said u want your shovel and she said shovel twice now she says it all the time, she also barks like our dogs from hearing it so often, good luck

parrots are really stubborn animals and they take time and patience to be taught those difficult tasks! just give it time and he'll/she'll catch on sooner or later! good luck and god bless!

There used to be old training records you can still find them online.
1. Go to MOOM (Museum of Online Museums)
2. Go to "Whistling records" (I think)
3. Go to the section of parrot training records
4. Play them for you parrot (duh)

repetiton....my mom recorded her voice on a cassette tape and played it while she was at work for the bird...he learned fast that way.

as many others have said..over and over and over..keep talking they catch on.whistling also is good, some catch on to it easier
