Within 3 months you should start to hear a very soft song.If you observe his throat you will start to see some movement and some effort to start to sing. Later as he matures he will begin to open his beak and sing and you will notice the song becoming louder and more coherent.

When you add a female to the mix your male Canary will sing to her and if she finds his song appealing she will accept him and mate as well if they fall in love with each other. However they must be introduced slowly over a period of time.

Also you can encourage his singing by playing some music or whistling as he will sing louder and stronger in an attempt to drown out the music and show you he can do it better. lol lol

Give him at least 6 to 12 for some great singing and enjoy him and his beautiful song.Canaries are very precious birds as I am sure you have already discovered. Oh and try not to put 2 males together unless you have a very large cage or aviary.Put into a small cage they will fight and will not be happy. He could stop singing alltogether
